#BeautyCrush: WOMF #3

Hope y’all had an excellent weekend! Mine just flew by really… doesn’t it always! Still, I found time to blog about my current skin care routine and here are the products I’ve been using over the past few weeks including a couple of newbies!

Icon

Eau Precieuse

Now this is one of those cult beauty products which I remember my grand-mother AND my mother using! The Eau Precieuse (Precious Water in English) was in fact created in France back in 1890! This miscellar water is known to fight imperfections & black heads. During my recent holidays at home, I was chatting all things beauty (of course) with my mates and one of them mentioned she was not only still using Eau Precieuse but loving it too. She has fantastic skin so it must work!!

Off I went to my local pharmacy & picked one up. I’ve been using all over my face to remove my make-up & as a pre-wash in the morning and so far, not complaining!

Neutrogena Deep Clean cleansing gel

Yes, I have gone back to my 1st love when it comes to cleanser and been again using my favorite one EVER! I’ve blogged about this amazing face wash a few times already but got to admit it is still the best at removing my make-up and preparing my skin for the rest of my routine.

L’Oreal Eclat Sublime Tonique Clarifiant

I mentioned this toner in one of my ‘French Fancies Beauty Haul‘ posts back from when I was on holidays. I’ve actually been using it for a few weeks now and really like it! It is very fresh and just wakes your skin up in the morning. It contains Vitamin C for an added ‘glowy‘ effect. Not sure you can get this one in the UAE just yet but if you are travelling to Europe I strongly recommend you pick up a bottle!

L’Oreal Sublimist Serum

And another one of my ‘French Fancies‘! I picked up this serum from the new L’Oreal Sublimist range and been using it every morning since then. It is said to give you that ‘perfect skin’ effect and although I can’t see any major difference, I do find it adds a little more ‘glow’ to it if that makes sense? It acts a bit as a primer and smooth out any fine lines or blemishes which then allows my BB cream to just glide onto my skin. Will keep on using it for the next few weeks and report back on any improvements!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 30

Nothing new here. I am still using AND loving my good old Neutrogena sunscreen. I did try the Clinique one for a few days but really, this one is my favorite one. I just love the fact that the texture is so light and non-greasy and it’s an absolute bargain.

L’Occitane Sublime Beauty Cream

I’ve talked about this one too in the past but really been using it on a regular basis since I went on holidays. Must say, of all the BB creams I have tried, this one is probably my favorite one. The texture is light & sheer but provide excellent coverage. The colour (medium) is just a superb match to my skin tone.

Dermalogica Ultrasmoothing Eye Serum

OK, I am being a little ‘unfaithful’ to my beloved Herbline Essentials Aloe Vera & Honey Under Eye Gel BUT, I do have to try different things don’t I?! I just recently discovered the Dermalogica Ultrasmoothing Eye Serum and been using it for over 2 weeks now. The oil-like texture is pretty amazing actually! It just melts into your under eye skin and kind of smooth it out… I’ve gotta say it is a pretty damn good product! It doesn’t have the ‘refreshing effect’ the Herbline Essentials gel gives but it seems to be excellent at filling up those little lines (damn these!) and makes a perfect primer for your concealer… I can’t really tell which one I prefer, I like them both and will probably use the Herbline Essentials gel in the morning and use the Dermalogica in the evening as it feels a little more ‘nourishing’.

Lush Santa’s Lip Scrub

I started using Lush’s lip scrubs a couple of months ago and absolutely adore the Pop Corn one. I tried the Santa’s Lip Scrub the other day and loved it too! You just rub it onto your lips, rinse it off and your pout is baby-soft & rid of any dry skin… amazing!

Well there you have it, this month’s low down on my skin care routine. I shall be back soon with some hair products I’ve recently been using so watch this space!

#BeautyCrush: WOMF #2

Hey gals!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer as much as I am. I’ve now been home for a week and really enjoying myself. Minus the couple of heavy showers  & storms we’ve had last week, the weather has been gorgeous with a nice & cool 28c!

Onto my current skin care routine… here is a little LOOK inside the products I’ve been using lately:

DSC00200

Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash

I’ve been using this one for over a week and really liking it! The scent is very summery and I like the fact that it also exfoliates your skin gently. I still prefer my Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser though as I find this ones doesn’t get rid of all my make-up as easily…. Still a very strong contender.

Herbline Essentials Cucumber & Rose Water Skin Tonic

Don’t think I need to tell you, again, why I love this toner! Mind you, I’ve heard raving reviews of the La Roche-Posay Ser0zinc which I need to get my hands on next week….

Herbline Essentials Aloe Vera & Honey Under eye Gel

Again another favorite of mine! I like the way the gel cools your skin and refreshes your eyes leaving the very fragile skin underneath hydrated & smooth,

L’Occitane Essence Sublime Serum

Now, I’ve been using this Serum for just over 2 weeks now and still not quite sure what to say about it. I haven’t noticed any real difference on my skin either way… I will say that it’s not quite worth the AED265 and will probably have to go on a hunt for a new Serum soon!

Clarins Sun Care Cream SPF 20

Yes, I’ve been unfaithful to my usual Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen but that’s only because I got given a few little mini samples of this one and thought they would be easier to pack! However, I still very much prefer the Neutrogena as I find the Clarins Sun Cream to be a little too rich for my skin.

L’Occitane Creme de Beaute Sublime BB Cream

Still very much liking the L’Occitane BB Cream! It just leaves my skin hydrated, smooth and not greasy! The colour is also a really good fit to my skin tone. This one is defo a winner!

Let me know if you guys have recently tried a new product which you love or not!!

In-flight beauty essentials

#beautycrush: Come fly with me…

So tomorrow you all know (I’ve been facebooking my daily count-down!) I’ll be jetting off home to the South of France for a much much needed holiday!

I’ve already blogged about my Summer Holiday Capsule Make-Up Bag

Now I wanted to share with you my ‘In-Flight Beauty Essentials‘… yes, I do have a little beauty kit for when I fly long-haul… as you do!

No need to remind you that when in an airplane, your skin gets completely dried-out by the air-con and, if you’re wearing make-up, well it probably will end up down your face by the time you land. SO, here are a few tips on how to emerge on that tarmac looking fab & glam (or at least, fairly refreshed!).

First off girls, please do me a favor and TAKE OFF that make-up before take-off (if that makes sense)! There. Sorted.

Now, before you doze off, take a wipe and clean up your face. I use the Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Wipes.

Spritz a little ‘mineral water mist’ to complete the cleansing process. I really like the Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray.

Pat dry with a clean tissue.

Then, apply a rich moisturizer (you should re-apply every couple of hours to keep the moisture locked in throughout). I’ll be using the L’Occitane Immortelle Creme Precieuse (the night one) which encourages cell renewal and regeneration! Beauty sleep in a jar (or, in my case, a handy little sachet)

Keep a lip balm close-by too,  as your lips might get dehydrated! I’ll be of course carrying my Figs & Rouge one!

About 30 mins before you land, clean up again with a fresh wipe, pat dry, re-apply some moisturizer, sweep a little bronzer all over your face (I’m using the Body Shop Honey Bronzer), add a couple of coats of mascara (I’m SO in love with Le Volume from Chanel) and you’re good to disembark, looking GREAT!!

Careful, you might turn a few (envious) heads!

Fly safe :)

#RamadanBeautyCrush: 7th (Skin Care) Heaven

This post is available in Arabic on Arabia.com!

Can you believe it’s already been almost 3 weeks?! Not long to go before the much awaited Eid celebrations!

And in keeping with looking gorge throughout Ramadan to ensure we spend the Holidays looking fabulous, here is a bit of a What’s Been On My Face Lately post!

Being a blogger and obsessed with beauty products, I try EVERYTHING that’s new! Sometimes, it doesn’t quite work out but when I do find an amazing product, I just want to share it with all of you glamistas out there so you don’t have to do the hard work ;)!

So here are my star skin care products this season:

1. Cleanser

I’ve picked the Neutrogena Deep Clean face wash a few weeks ago and been using it ever since. A great drugstore contender, this soft gel dissolves make-up and dirt in no time, leaving you with a deeply cleansed canvas you can really work with ! See my full product review here.

2. Exfoliation

Now THIS is my SUPER STAR product! I’ve actually discovered this genius thing a couple of months ago .

The Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel is a 2-step daily super peel which you can use at home. This one not only diminishes the appearance of fine wrinkles, it helps complexion problems, balances oil, tones skin and increases clarity and radiance all the whole minimizing pores and scars… I mean do I really need to say more?  At AED400 for a 30-day course, it isn’t the cheapest BUT I’ve used it every evening for a week now and can tell you my skin has never looked SO good, so it was well worth it!

3. Toner

I wrote a full product review on this fabulous Herbline Essentials Cucumber & Rose Water Skin Toner so check it out here.

Skin Tonic_Herbline Essentials

It smells divine, feels so fresh and soothing and is made of 100% natural products.

4. Serum

Another one of my latest discoveries, the new L’Occitane Essence Sublime Serum which helps to correct skin irregularities, soothe & reduce redness, refined texture and reduce the appearance of pores… again, need I say more? This one was around AE280 but was assured it would last me for a few months as you only need a pea size amount twice-daily.

L'Occitane Serum

5. Moisturiser

In the same L’Occitane range, please meet the new Sublime Beauty Cream! This one really has made it to my favorite BB Creams lists from the 1st time I tried it. The share (medium for me) is just perfect, adapted to my skin tone in seconds and felt oh so amazing!

The Sublime Beauty Cream offers all the benefits of a moisturise AND foundation in one! It gives the complexion a fresh, natural, dewy look and has a built-in SPF30! Genius!!

L'Occitane

This one was AED169.

6. Eye Cream

Here is another fantastic produce from Herbline Essentials! Their new Aloe Vera and Honey Under Eye Gel hydrates and tightens your under eye skin with the use of the powerful and multi-tasking Aloe Vera ingredient. The Honey provides micronutrients and moisturises also protecting your eyes from the ill effects of the sun and environment. Dark circles are  reduced, with bags and fine lines being washed away, giving a flawless, natural result. At AED99 it’s a real bargain!

7. Overnight cream

Can you tell I like to mix and match different skin care brands?!  Let’s say that I like the best of both (in this case 7) worlds!

Another product I discovered at a recent bloggers event is the Elemis FreshSkin Dreamy Sleep Night-Time Moisturiser (AED125) which works to rejuvenate & replenish your skin whilst you’re asleep. You’ll woke up with deeply moisturised and restore skin!

Well there you have it again, my current skin care routine which I hope will inspire some of you to try some (or all) of these fabulous products!

Do share your favorite beauty staples.. I’ll soon be on the look out for new ones :)

#Make-UpCrush: My “Summer Holidays Capsule Make-up” bag

Only a  few days to go and I shall be jetting off to the South of France for a few weeks! I don’t about you but I look forward to going home, catching up with the family and friends, enjoying lovely food AND go beauty shopping!!

But first up, I need to pack! And with only 23kgs to play with, you gotta be smart about it! I’ve lived abroad for so long now that I have become a ‘master of the suitcase’ thing!

Every thing is meticulously planned from outfits to accessories and of course, beauty products & make-up!

So here is a glimpse inside my make-up bag and what I will be taking away with me to guarantee I look fab & glam without having to leg my whole bathroom!

1. Let’s start with the most important bit: the Make-Up Bag!

This one came highly recommended by one of my favorite blogger, Viviannadoesmakeup! As she puts it, if make-up and Filofax were to have a baby, THIS is what it would look like!

I ordered this Paul & Joe cute little pouch from Selfridges.com for 23 Pounds and 5 days later, it landed on my door step! You gotta love ‘Shop & Ship’!

2. Complexion

As much as I need a break, my skin needs one even more! A break from wearing a lot of make-up, foundation etc… so this Summer, I’m all about THE BB Cream! I have tried a few and just discovered this one from L’Occitane which is just amazing!! It boasts moisturizing agents, gives the complexion a fresh, natural and even look, visibly reduces the look of pores & redness and (bonus) has an SPF 30 built-in.

L'Occitane

As a primer, I’ll be packing my genius POREfessional from Benefit of course! I posted a review not so long ago so check it out here.

Benefit Poreprofessional Image

I’ve also packed my Clarins Instant Light Brush-on Perfector which I’ll use as a concealer and/or highlighter.

My Summer blush will be from Bourjois Paris in Lilas d’Or which is this gorgeous deep pink with gold shimmer.

Bourjois Blush

For Bronzer, I’ve chosen the Body Shop Honey Bronzer, as (again) highly recommended by another favourite blogger of mine, LianaBeauty.

I’ve also packed my Cha Cha Tint and Sun Beam from Benefit just cos they look so pretty and give a beautiful glow to your skin! These will be used for V special occasions!

Perfect canvas. Check.

3. Eyes

Obviously I can’t quite live without my Bassam Fattouh Fork Eyeliner! Find out why here.

Next up, eye pencils! I packed a black one (DiorShow), a brown one (L’Oreal Paris) & a gold one from Sephora.

Mascara-wise, I went with the Outrageous Volume from Sephora which I adore! I also bought my waterproof DiorShow Blackout Mascara for when I’m on the beach or by the pool.

And as for eye shadows, well it had to be my newly purchased Urban Decay Naked 2 palette!! Another bloggers’ favourite and I can totally see why now! All the colours you need to create natural to dramatic smokey eyes! Thumbs up!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Last but not least, my amazing MAC Brow Pen!

4. Lips

I don’t wear much lipsticks and generally go for my Figs & Rouge Lip Balm! BUT if I do want to glam up a little I will be reaching for my 2 adorable

Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede sticks in  070 – Preview for daytime and 50 – Couture for evenings out!

I managed to squize in a couple of Sephora blending brushing and my Body Shop big fluffy brush for blending in bronzer & applying my blush!

And here is what the whole thing looks like! (please forgive the shabby picture my camera is broken and I only had my blackberry to snap it!)

My ‘Summer Capsule Make-Up’ Collection

Since a few have requested it, I shall blog my ‘Summer Essentials – Beauty Bits & Bobs‘ in the next few days :)
