In-flight beauty essentials

#beautycrush: Come fly with me…

So tomorrow you all know (I’ve been facebooking my daily count-down!) I’ll be jetting off home to the South of France for a much much needed holiday!

I’ve already blogged about my Summer Holiday Capsule Make-Up Bag

Now I wanted to share with you my ‘In-Flight Beauty Essentials‘… yes, I do have a little beauty kit for when I fly long-haul… as you do!

No need to remind you that when in an airplane, your skin gets completely dried-out by the air-con and, if you’re wearing make-up, well it probably will end up down your face by the time you land. SO, here are a few tips on how to emerge on that tarmac looking fab & glam (or at least, fairly refreshed!).

First off girls, please do me a favor and TAKE OFF that make-up before take-off (if that makes sense)! There. Sorted.

Now, before you doze off, take a wipe and clean up your face. I use the Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Wipes.

Spritz a little ‘mineral water mist’ to complete the cleansing process. I really like the Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray.

Pat dry with a clean tissue.

Then, apply a rich moisturizer (you should re-apply every couple of hours to keep the moisture locked in throughout). I’ll be using the L’Occitane Immortelle Creme Precieuse (the night one) which encourages cell renewal and regeneration! Beauty sleep in a jar (or, in my case, a handy little sachet)

Keep a lip balm close-by too,  as your lips might get dehydrated! I’ll be of course carrying my Figs & Rouge one!

About 30 mins before you land, clean up again with a fresh wipe, pat dry, re-apply some moisturizer, sweep a little bronzer all over your face (I’m using the Body Shop Honey Bronzer), add a couple of coats of mascara (I’m SO in love with Le Volume from Chanel) and you’re good to disembark, looking GREAT!!

Careful, you might turn a few (envious) heads!

Fly safe :)

#Make-UpCrush: My “Summer Holidays Capsule Make-up” bag

Only a  few days to go and I shall be jetting off to the South of France for a few weeks! I don’t about you but I look forward to going home, catching up with the family and friends, enjoying lovely food AND go beauty shopping!!

But first up, I need to pack! And with only 23kgs to play with, you gotta be smart about it! I’ve lived abroad for so long now that I have become a ‘master of the suitcase’ thing!

Every thing is meticulously planned from outfits to accessories and of course, beauty products & make-up!

So here is a glimpse inside my make-up bag and what I will be taking away with me to guarantee I look fab & glam without having to leg my whole bathroom!

1. Let’s start with the most important bit: the Make-Up Bag!

This one came highly recommended by one of my favorite blogger, Viviannadoesmakeup! As she puts it, if make-up and Filofax were to have a baby, THIS is what it would look like!

I ordered this Paul & Joe cute little pouch from Selfridges.com for 23 Pounds and 5 days later, it landed on my door step! You gotta love ‘Shop & Ship’!

2. Complexion

As much as I need a break, my skin needs one even more! A break from wearing a lot of make-up, foundation etc… so this Summer, I’m all about THE BB Cream! I have tried a few and just discovered this one from L’Occitane which is just amazing!! It boasts moisturizing agents, gives the complexion a fresh, natural and even look, visibly reduces the look of pores & redness and (bonus) has an SPF 30 built-in.

As a primer, I’ll be packing my genius POREfessional from Benefit of course! I posted a review not so long ago so check it out here.

I’ve also packed my Clarins Instant Light Brush-on Perfector which I’ll use as a concealer and/or highlighter.

My Summer blush will be from Bourjois Paris in Lilas d’Or which is this gorgeous deep pink with gold shimmer.

For Bronzer, I’ve chosen the Body Shop Honey Bronzer, as (again) highly recommended by another favourite blogger of mine, LianaBeauty.

I’ve also packed my Cha Cha Tint and Sun Beam from Benefit just cos they look so pretty and give a beautiful glow to your skin! These will be used for V special occasions!

Perfect canvas. Check.

3. Eyes

Obviously I can’t quite live without my Bassam Fattouh Fork Eyeliner! Find out why here.

Next up, eye pencils! I packed a black one (DiorShow), a brown one (L’Oreal Paris) & a gold one from Sephora.

Mascara-wise, I went with the Outrageous Volume from Sephora which I adore! I also bought my waterproof DiorShow Blackout Mascara for when I’m on the beach or by the pool.

And as for eye shadows, well it had to be my newly purchased Urban Decay Naked 2 palette!! Another bloggers’ favourite and I can totally see why now! All the colours you need to create natural to dramatic smokey eyes! Thumbs up!

Last but not least, my amazing MAC Brow Pen!

4. Lips

I don’t wear much lipsticks and generally go for my Figs & Rouge Lip Balm! BUT if I do want to glam up a little I will be reaching for my 2 adorable

Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede sticks in  070 – Preview for daytime and 50 – Couture for evenings out!

I managed to squize in a couple of Sephora blending brushing and my Body Shop big fluffy brush for blending in bronzer & applying my blush!

And here is what the whole thing looks like! (please forgive the shabby picture my camera is broken and I only had my blackberry to snap it!)

#RamadanBeautyCrush: All natural Ramadan Beauty; back to basics

The arabic version of this article is available on Arabia.com! Click here to check it out :)

Hey dolls!

Welcome to my Ramadan Beauty Haul part 1 :).

Now if you think about it, the Holy Month of Ramadan is all about ‘cleansing’ oneself both spiritually but also physically. Well, why not apply that same philosophy to the beauty products we will be using over the next few weeks?

I don’t know about you but although I always was a bit of a sceptic when it comes to natural/organic beauty products, I am now a total convert! Organic/Ayurvedic products are firmly part of my daily beauty regimen….

Add to that the fact that hey, since we’re not drinking any water throughout the day, there is a very good chance that our skin will end up looking a little dehydrated!

So, for this week’s Ramadan Beauty lowdown, I’ve chosen to share my favourite natural beauty gems to keep your skin hydrated & looking good throughout the Summer!

The 1st brand I would like to introduce you gals to is Herbline Essentials. Herbline Essentials is a beauty range that advocates a return to nature, offering consumers Ayurvedic products . All their stuff are made from 100% natural ingredients sourced in the Himalayas and provide long term benefits for a healthy body and mind! How cool’s that?

Now if your skin is looking a little tired and showing a few wrinkles or dark patches, your MUST try Herbline Essentials’ Firm Skin Cream (AED125) ! It’ll soothe these all away leaving your skin looking firm, supple, healthier AND most importantly, younger!

Another one of their moisturisers I absolutely adore is the Aloe Vera & Honey Hydra 5 Gel! Now this one is a special therapy product for deep penetrating rehydration. This genius gel provides deep layer moisturizing to the skin AND has a non-oily sunscreen with SPF11! I wouldn’t wear anything below SPF 30 in this weather though but we’ll come to that later…

The Herbline Essentials range is currently available online through their e-store herbline-essentials.com, as well as in over 120 pharmacies in the United Arab Emirates, including Boots, Bin Sina, Health First and United Pharmacies and in Dubai Duty Free pharmacies at Dubai International Airport.

The second brand I wanted to feature today is Human+Kind. An Irish skincare brand that challenges today’s skincare industry  by advocating a pared down approach to beauty and by offering all-natural, simple and multi-functional products  of superior  formulations, benefiting skin types of all ages.

My 1st product pick has to be Human+Kind All-in-One Day and Night Cream  (AED130) which literally quenches thirsty skin, locking in vital moisture and skin nutrients, delivering long lasting protection.

Check out what it is actually made of! A dream come true:

  • Aloe Vera – soothes, hydrates and nourishes
  • Marshmallow – soothes and calms with active anti-inflammatory properties
  • Rosehip Oil – a potent source of vitamin A, its regenerative action reduces wrinkles and signs of premature ageing
  • Centella  – heals and treats scars and blemishes

The 2nd product I selected is their All-in-One Anti-Ageing Cream (AED160). The strong Dubai sun isn’t helping our cause in keeping wrinkles at bay and the sandy environment makes our skin coarse and dry! Human+Kind Anti-Ageing Cream protects, smoothes and softens fine lines and wrinkles, as well as evening out skin tone, leaving your skin youthfully radiant.

D’you know it also contains one of nature’s finest ingredients called achmella oleracea, otherwise known as nature’s botox?!

The Human+Kind skincare line is currently available at selected Boots outlets, Milk & Honey, Organic Foods & Café, Down To Earth, The Change Initiative and Make Up Etc. in Palm Strip Mall Jumeira, as well as online through Glambox.me & Namshi.com.

Oh and please girls, wear an SPF! EVERYDAY! And choose one that’s got at least an SPF30. I personally use the Neutrogena® Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF 30. Check out my product review here.

Now that we have our face all moisturised, protected & rejuvenated, let’s not forget to hydrate our lips and hands which also suffer from the harsh warm weather!

On this one, I’ve selected  another favourite brand of mine is Figs & Rouge! I really am loving their lip balms (AED30) which I’m told are Emma Watson’s favourites! If it’s good enough for her….

They come is lots of mouth-watering flavours including Wild Cherry, Pomegranate, Aloe and Mint, or Coco Vanilla and are 100% natural.

How cool’s the vintage packaging?!

Figs & Rouge also offers a range of luscious hand creams (AED45: bargain!) which I highly recommend!

Until then, stay fabulous…
