#AugustMakeUpCrush (the French Edit): Dans ma trousse #Aout13

Glamistas Bonsoir,

#Make-UpCrush: My “Summer Holidays Capsule Make-up” bag

Only a  few days to go and I shall be jetting off to the South of France for a few weeks! I don’t about you but I look forward to going home, catching up with the family and friends, enjoying lovely food AND go beauty shopping!!

But first up, I need to pack! And with only 23kgs to play with, you gotta be smart about it! I’ve lived abroad for so long now that I have become a ‘master of the suitcase’ thing!

Every thing is meticulously planned from outfits to accessories and of course, beauty products & make-up!

So here is a glimpse inside my make-up bag and what I will be taking away with me to guarantee I look fab & glam without having to leg my whole bathroom!

1. Let’s start with the most important bit: the Make-Up Bag!

This one came highly recommended by one of my favorite blogger, Viviannadoesmakeup! As she puts it, if make-up and Filofax were to have a baby, THIS is what it would look like!

I ordered this Paul & Joe cute little pouch from Selfridges.com for 23 Pounds and 5 days later, it landed on my door step! You gotta love ‘Shop & Ship’!

2. Complexion

As much as I need a break, my skin needs one even more! A break from wearing a lot of make-up, foundation etc… so this Summer, I’m all about THE BB Cream! I have tried a few and just discovered this one from L’Occitane which is just amazing!! It boasts moisturizing agents, gives the complexion a fresh, natural and even look, visibly reduces the look of pores & redness and (bonus) has an SPF 30 built-in.

As a primer, I’ll be packing my genius POREfessional from Benefit of course! I posted a review not so long ago so check it out here.

Benefit Poreprofessional Image

I’ve also packed my Clarins Instant Light Brush-on Perfector which I’ll use as a concealer and/or highlighter.

My Summer blush will be from Bourjois Paris in Lilas d’Or which is this gorgeous deep pink with gold shimmer.

Bourjois Blush

For Bronzer, I’ve chosen the Body Shop Honey Bronzer, as (again) highly recommended by another favourite blogger of mine, LianaBeauty.

I’ve also packed my Cha Cha Tint and Sun Beam from Benefit just cos they look so pretty and give a beautiful glow to your skin! These will be used for V special occasions!

Perfect canvas. Check.

3. Eyes

Obviously I can’t quite live without my Bassam Fattouh Fork Eyeliner! Find out why here.

Next up, eye pencils! I packed a black one (DiorShow), a brown one (L’Oreal Paris) & a gold one from Sephora.

Mascara-wise, I went with the Outrageous Volume from Sephora which I adore! I also bought my waterproof DiorShow Blackout Mascara for when I’m on the beach or by the pool.

And as for eye shadows, well it had to be my newly purchased Urban Decay Naked 2 palette!! Another bloggers’ favourite and I can totally see why now! All the colours you need to create natural to dramatic smokey eyes! Thumbs up!

Last but not least, my amazing MAC Brow Pen!

4. Lips

I don’t wear much lipsticks and generally go for my Figs & Rouge Lip Balm! BUT if I do want to glam up a little I will be reaching for my 2 adorable

Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede sticks in  070 – Preview for daytime and 50 – Couture for evenings out!

I managed to squize in a couple of Sephora blending brushing and my Body Shop big fluffy brush for blending in bronzer & applying my blush!

And here is what the whole thing looks like! (please forgive the shabby picture my camera is broken and I only had my blackberry to snap it!)

Since a few have requested it, I shall blog my ‘Summer Essentials – Beauty Bits & Bobs‘ in the next few days :)

#RamadanBeautyCrush: Keep your glow on!

This post can be viewed in Arabic on Arabia.com! Click here to check it out :)

Happy Wesnesday Glamistas!

So today I thought I’d talk about another obsession of mine (I have so many I could write a book!); Make-Up! I mean I really am obsessed… like I have tons of make up at home which I just love to play with! 2 of my favorite brands are Sephora and Bourjois which I use on a daily basis. Their products are seriously just as good and pigmented as luxury ones and just cost a fraction of price!

Now, during Ramadan, we will all be toning it all down a notch or 3 BUT , with some very simply tips and by using some amazing products you’ll still look good, glowy without looking ‘made-up’.

Here is my make-up routine broken down in 3 steps:

From lack of hydration & food, I can look fairly pale throughout the day and so on top of my usual moisturiser + SPF combo, I use the new Sephora Color Adapt Bronzer all over my face with a big brush, to warm my complexion up! This one is mat and doesn’t add any shimmery bits ( really don’t like these during the day!) and so gives you a very natural yet subtle glow.

Color Adapt bronzer_Open

If I have a bit more time in the morning, I would just apply my favourite foundation from my favourite drugstore make-up brand of all times!! The Healthy Mix Foundation by Bourjois.

With a light/medium coverage it just smoothes away all those little lines & imperfections leaving you with a dewy polished canvas! I SUPER like!

If you wanna add a little ‘touch of radiance to finish off your look, just a sweep some of the Bourjois  Blush in ‘Rose D’Or’ over your cheek bones!

The keyword here is again, ‘subtle’!  During the Holy Month, you don’t wanna sport any look that’s dramatic so forgo smokey eye, cat’s liner etc… keep it nice, simply & natural.

A simple brush stroke over the eyelid using a very fresh colour such as the new Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow which will last you a whole day, even in this heat!

Benefit EyeCreamShadow

My fave shades are Birthday Suit,  My  2 Cents & RSVP (check out Benefit’s website for more details). These retail AED91 in Sephora. A little pricey BUT they’ll last you forever.

My favourite mascara at the moment is the L’Oreal Extra-Volume Collagen Waterproof. Now I’ve tried hundreds of mascaras, expensive ones, cheap ones and really this one has to be THE best I’ve ever tried! I wear the waterproof version to avoid any smudging during the hot Summer months.

L'Oreal Mascara

I still use my Figs & Rouge Lip Balm which I talked about in my previous post but if I am going out for Iftar or Sohour I’ll add a pop of colours using the new Sephora Lip Stain Ink from their newest Bling Bling Collection. I have all 3 colours and really love them :)! I’ve done a full review of Sephora’s latest Summer make-up so be sure to check it here!

 Sephora Lip Stain

I also SUPER love the new Bourjois Colour Boost glossy sticks!

And if you’re going out in the evening, turn your daytime look into an evening one by just adding a little eyeliner and you’re good to go! (Read my review on the best one ever created here)!

Stay fabulous until my next  Ramadan Beauty post!!

#Make-UpCrush: ‘Dubai Summer Heat’-Proof your make-up!

Hey Glam Gals!

The Desert-Kissed look has taken over catwalks worldwide; even strutting its way onto runways in the Arab countries which have up until now have preferred the paler looks. The concept is a woman who has walked through the desert for days and been subjected to sun and heat with little food or water. We see strong contouring to bring out the cheekbones, giving a gaunt impression, along with dewy to shiny finishes on bronzed skin.

In the mainstream, this makeup look is natural and lightweight; appropriate for the beach, out about town, and of course – rendezvousing in the desert itself! Not only is it a huge global trend this season, it’s also easy to apply!

Healthy skin is very important with this look so eat healthily, exercise well and take care of your skin with a good skin care routine!

To get started with this look, smooth a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15+ over both face and neck. BB Cream is also a brilliant option; basically, you want a very lightweight feel to the base but with a dewy finish – not matte!

Blemishes can always be touched up with a bit of concealer if you’re after more coverage, and if you don’t own a tinted moisturiser, try mixing a dab of foundation with your regular moisturizer.

MAC BB Creams

The catwalk trends are chiseled and gaunt but you can smooth out the contouring for everyday wear, so carefully apply a darker shade of tinted moisturiser or foundation along the base of your cheekbones, and blend it up onto your cheeks. If you want to look more bronzed, you can also blend that same shade into the areas of your face you would naturally tan. Start off light and build up the colour gradually.

The key is to keep the skin glowing so I recommend using a couple of drops of my products of the moment: Benefit’s High Beam, Moon Beam or Sun Beam to highlight brow bones, cheekbones, and slide down the centre of your nose.

 Benefit Highlighters

If you’re planning to take a dip in the water, go for cream eye shadows as they are waterproof. Work quickly when using them as they tend to dry fast. Make Up For Ever offers a great “Aqua” waterproof makeup range.

Curl your eyelashes and apply waterproof mascara. Although, if you’re a sun & sand girl, I’d recommend getting your eyelashes tinted in a salon so you can skip on the mascara altogether!

Define your eyebrows with your choice product. I recommend a MAC eyebrow pencil or Benefit’s BrowZings. Structured eyebrows make such a difference to your appearance and furthermore, this season brows are strong and defined!

Brow Kit

Well hydrated lips are a must! Exfoliate them with a toothbrush and apply a lip stain such as Benefit’s BeneTint (use sparingly). Rub a rich lip balm with SPF over that and you’re all set. Sheer lipsticks are also an option but keep it natural.

Finish your look with a lovely body moisturizer  you might like to go for a tinted body moisturizer that will match your face. You can also apply Benefit’s highlighter to the tops of your collar bones to make them stand out.

I hope you found this useful; feel free to send in your feedback and requests for tips, tutorials and reviews of anything makeup and skincare related!
