Benefit GlamBox May 2014 Final

#BeautyCrush: May GlamBox Review

Considering today is the 29th of May, I’m cutting it just fine with my May GlamBox Review!! A lot has been going on in the Dubai fashion & beauty scene over the past few weeks so have got a lot of posts to catch up on.

But the long awaited May Benefit Exclusive GlamBox dropped a couple of weeks ago and (again) it was a big hit! Some products we all know, some new releases… read on for more deets!

1. Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara – One of my favourite mascaras of all time. This travel-friendly version is just perfect to take away on holidays or carry in your handbag! Makes your lashes longer, doesn’t clump at all… amazing stuff.

2. Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Push Up Liner – So that was the famous ‘mystery’ product!! One that Benefit just recently launched and we were all very lucky to have it included in this month’s box!

Now, I actually can’t quite give you my take on this new eye liner. The truth is I am absolutely rubbish at applying liner and although this one is meant to make it a whole lot easier, I haven’t quite mastered the process yet which is mainly down to me having 2 left hands as opposed to the product itself. So, let me have another try over the weekend before I state what I think of it!

3. Benefit ‘ Fake Up’ – I’ve been using Fake Up for a while now so this one wasn’t a discovery. I do like the concealer’s creamy texture and super convenient packaging. One that I use to cover any skin blemishes or very dark circles under my eyes. The coverage is fairly good and the colour medium a good match to my skin

4. Benefit Big Easy – Now this one was a fantastic discovery! Actually, more like a revelation!! Think of your favourite BB Cream… well this one is better! Perfect for oily skins it offers a smooth, cream to powder finish, gives good coverage and comes in 6 different shades. That’s my ‘Summer base’ sorted.

5. Benefit The POREFessional – Again, another one I’ve had in my make-up stash for a very long time and one that I love love love! As far as primers go, this one does a great job of smoothing out pores, imperfections & fine lines. The texture is a bit ‘silicon-y’ but my make-up does stay put (and shine-free) for longer when I wear it so…

6. Benefit Brow Bar Tint Voucher – I’ve not used the voucher yet but will be sure to report back when I do!

If you’re not subscribed to receive your monthly box of beauty goodies, check out their website or Facebook page as they currently have an offer whereby you sign up for 3, 6 or 12 months and get an additional month for free! Use the code GLAMBIRD at checkout!

Can’t wait for the June box 😉

#PerfumeCrushes: The Summer Fragrances Edit

Summer Fragrance Edit

And so the countdown to Summer has officially begun! Literally…. crossing days on my desk calendar et al! I’m now on D-95… seems like a far away ahead BUT that’s exactly 3 months. And these 3 months are going to be HECTIC ones.

For one, I need to try & get into some sort of shape, then I need to plan out all of my outfits (I’m limited to 23kgs of luggage so gotta make tough decisions!), I’ll also be planning out my ‘Holidays make-up kit’, my ‘Skincare kit’ and then of course my ‘Perfumes selection’… very important these… each Summer has it’s own special scent or combination of!

So, which perfumes have made the cut this Summer? 3 actually. 1 for daytime, 1 for evening and then another one for special occasions… yes I do realise this all sound a bit extreme but that’s the way I roll!

Daytime gorgeousness: Elie Saab L’Eau Couture

Evening sultriness: Benefit Cosmetics Under My Spell Noelle

Unforgettable scent: Chanel Coco Noir

Obviously I do own quite a few more which I wear on a regular basis and I might do a little post on my current perfume collection if you’re interested! Just let me know in the comments :)

GlamBox Benefit Box Aug 2013

#BeautyCrush: Flashback – the Benefit GlamBox

I know, I know I am super late reviewing my last few GlamBoxes BUT I was away in August and had to put my subscription on hold (super convenient!) so I then got my July and August boxes at the same time in September!

And to make matters even more confusing, I decided to start up with the August box, the Benefit Box! Just because I love Benefit Cosmetics and was super excited to try out some of their stuff.

So here is my low down on this box’s glam treasures!

Total Moisture Face Cream – I never really thought of Benefit as a ‘skincare brand’ and although I do know they offer a range of products including cleansers, toners & moisturisers, I had never tried them. Well you know what, I think I will now! I actually really liked this moisturising cream! It felt a little ‘heavy’ at first BUT it sank right into my skin and left it hydrated yet matte and looking great! I’ve kept the cute little pot for when I travel but I will definitely be checking out their other skincare stuff!

The POREfessional – When I first tried out this mattifying primer, I blogged about it and called that particular post ‘Where have you been all my life‘! I think that says it all! Check it out here.

Hello Flawless – Oxygen Wow Foundation – I don’t know what it is but foundations and I don’t ever agree! I have tried MANY different ones and always end up not liking the texture or the colour etc… so I had high hopes with Benefit’s newest foundation and well…. I didn’t like it :(. I found the texture too ‘thick’, it didn’t give me an even coverage and the colour (Champagne) had a slight yellow undertone which doesn’t suit my complexion at all.

ChaCha Tint – Now this is one which has been in my make-up bag for quite a while now and I absolutely love it! You can read my full review here.

They’re Real Mascara – My biggest #MakeUpCrush this year! What an amazing mascara! I mean, again, you read things, you hear things but my God this one didn’t disappoint!! I just love how it makes your lashes so much longer and voluminous, the brush is super practical and the colour very well pigmented! It doesn’t rival with my Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara for ‘drama’ but this is a very very good day-time option which I shall re-purchase when I’ve used up this little sample tube!

I have started to try out the Philosophy goodies from my July GlamBox and will be sure to post a complete review very soon!

Until then….

#Make-Up Crush: Let’s Cha Cha Cha!

A couple of weeks ago, I went off to buy myself some new beauty treats! One trip to Sephora Dubai Mall and AED400 later, I emerged with (among other things) a new blusher AND a new highlighter!

I heard some great stuff about Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint and Sun Beam so decided to go for it!

I was at first a little taken aback by the ‘nail-polish’ type of bottle & brush… not quite what I’m used to ;). But I got talking to the lovely Benefit make-up artist who proceeded to applying those products on my face and OMG, it looked GORGEOUS!

These 2 little gems are definitely in my beauty bag this Summer!

Benefit Cha Cha Tint blusher & lip stain

Dab the brush onto your cheeks 3 or 4 times and blend in upwards with your fingers. You gotta act quickly as the tint might stain! Glowy, peachy, look guaranteed! Dab onto your lips & blend for a mango-like yummy colour!

Cha Chat Tint

Benefit Sun Beam highlighter

A few dabs along your lower eyebrow line and around your eye area, 1 quick sweep over your cheek bones (over the blusher!), blend it all in and you’ll look fabulous! For an evening out, just pat the product instead of blending it, it’ll add a bit more ‘sheer’ to your make-up look!

Sun Beam

Any make-up gems you guys have tried recently?! Share the glamour!

#Make-Up Crush: Where have you been all my life!

I was very lucky to be offered to try the new POREfessional by Benefit Cosmetics over the weekend and OH MY GOD, it was a revelation! Where the hell has this one been all of my life!!

I have suffered from shiny T-zone for as long as I can remember and believe you me, I have tried every single primer & mattifier you can think of!

This one however is absolutely AMAZING! It quickly minimizes the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin finish! Because it is translucent, its oil-free formula complements all skin tones and helps your makeup stay put. Best of all, it contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

How to apply?!

To use under makeup: Apply to clean, lightly moisturized skin. Pat on problem areas & blend with fingertips. Wait a few seconds before applying the rest of your make-up.

To use over makeup
: Pat on lightly over makeup whenever the ‘Shine’ shows up & blend. I say, this one should be in every glam girls’ bags this Summer!

The POREfessional retails at AED120 in Sephora. While you’re at it, don’t forget to pick up one of their new Loyalty Cards!
