An evening of yummy food & football?! What more do you need really?!
I recently went for dinner at the new Real Madrid Cafe in JBR and had an amazing experience! If you’re a fan of footie AND a foodie you are going to love this place believe me.
We were warmly welcomed by Hani (the GM) and his team and were offered to sit on the upper terrace from where the view over the palm is just fab! Well, minus the construction site right on the beach but hey, that one won’t be there for long ;).
We also had a tour of the place which include a Read Madrid merchandises stores complete with the latest team jerseys, balls, socks etc… heaven for a RM supporter! They also have a replica of the club’s trophies including the mighty Champions League from last year so you can take your own pics and channel your inner Ronaldo for a few seconds!
Talking of Ronaldo, I hear the team is coming over on 29th December so stay tuned for more info!
Back to the food. I don’t think I have ever eaten SO much in my life! Seriously, the team literally went all out and we got to taste their best dishes!
First off and for starters, we had a lovely Gaspachio accompanied by grilled italian bread, olive oil & pesto…. YUM!
I then tried their Ribs & Chips. That was lovely too although my favourite was the Steak & Chips Chimichuri… that was DELICIOUS!! The meat was cooked to perfection, the sautéed potatoes reminded me of my mum’s (and we’re French so we know sautéed potatoes trust me!).
For a bit of a healthy touch, I tried out their Real Madrid Salad made up of fresh peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes & red onions and croutons… a little taste of crunchy & fresh Spain!
The Real Madrid Signature Pizza was such a treat. Really nice thin crust topped off with basil infused tomato base, lots of peppers, mozzarella, pesto & black olives. OMG!
The Seafood Paella looked SO SO good. It wasn’t however my favourite as I’m not such a fan of the dish. In that case, I won’t comment on it but I’m told it’s pretty special so defo have a try if you like Paella.
Desert was simply to die for. Seriously. The Tiramisu was so creamy and rich, yet I think I actually ate it all (and that’s after all of the above yeah?!). The Cheesecake was also something quite special! I mean, I do like cheesecake but this one!! The base is made of amaretti biscuit and together with the raspberry coulis it just makes for the perfect ending!
The atmosphere was also really lovely. I was a little concerned I would be the only female but not at all! Around us were couples, families and friends! Inside were the guys watching the Gulf Cup but I can really assure you I did not feel I was in a sports bar/cafe for one second. They’ve done it quite well these guys!
Real Madrid Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee and dinner and I will be sure to return very very soon!
If you do visit, please be sure to let me know what you think!
