#MakeUpCrush: My top 6 lipsticks

Seems to be all about lipstick this week!! After my post on the new Nars Audacious Lippies, I thought I’d share my favourite lip products!

Because I do actually wear lipstick… not as often as other fellow ‘beautistas’ but sometimes I do. Mostly in the evening when I’m attending an event or work function. And when I do, I usually go for one of my 6 favourite ones.

I never really felt lipstick suit me for some strange reason. The whole ‘bold lip‘ trend isn’t one I embraced but as of late, I have tried to build a collection of lippies I feel comfy wearing.

In terms of shades, you’ll notice that I do tend to go for the ‘safe’ options with shades of browns & nudes.

Texture-wise, I do prefer the sheer versions. I don’t really like matt lips actually (shocking I know!).

Will report back on Instagram (make sure you follow me on there too! Search for ‘Theglamcrushchronicle‘)!

#MakeUpCrush: The new Nars Audacious Lipsticks

Who doesn’t love a good Nars launch?! Well this time they’ve really hit it with their new Audacious Lipsticks.

Yours truly was one of the lucky bloggers who attended a make-up masterclass by Anna Priadka where she demonstrated a couple of different looks using the new lippies. And let me tell you, they are just amazing! So pigmented, a dream to apply and play with, and the range of shades is fab! Also love the black, weighted, packaging which is just so chic & sleek!

Founder and Creative Director François Nars chose renowned actress Charlotte Rampling as the face of the Audacious Lipstick Collection. Celebrated for her work in films like “Farewell, My Lovely,” “Angel Heart,” “Stardust Memories” and “The Verdict,” Charlotte’s bold choices and independent spirit have produced fascinating characters with indelible impact. For François, Charlotte’s individuality, daring style and natural elegance—on and off camera—captured the very essence of the Audacious Lipstick Collection.

Talking of which, a shade was named after her and that shade is as bold as it gets! Anna showed us how it could be worn from a light wash of colour to a richer bolder look (for the most daring gals!).

The Nars Audacious Lipsticks will be available from Sephora very soon!

#MakeUpCrush: My top 5 blushers

It is good to be back!! In my previous post I mentioned I’d be off line for a while seeing as work had gone a little crazier than usual but I can finally get back to my normal routine of preparing blog posts over the weekend and it feels good!

One I wanted to share for a while now is about make-up. Blushers to be precise and indeed my favourite ones! I never, ever go out of the house without a touch of mascara AND a touch of blush as I just find it wakes my complexion up nicely. Shade-wise I do tend to stick to peachy or darker pink colours as it fits well with my slightly darker complexion

Here are therefore the 5 blushers I reach out for every single day:

2. Illamasqua Velvet Blusher in Flurtatious (view here)

3. Nars Orgasm (view here)

4. Jane Iredale PurePressed Blush in Whisper (view here)

5. Benefit Rockateur (view here)

What are your favourite blushers?

#BeautyCrush: Eyelash Extensions

You may have read a couple of tweets when I got my Eyelash Extensions done a couple of weeks ago…. I got a little Groupon vouchers and thought it’d be the prefect opportunity to try them out… I liked the idea of not having to wear any mascara during my holidays!

So off I went to the Senses Salon in JLT, armed with my vouchers and the hope of fuller, more dramatic, glamorous lashes.

I was very warmly welcomed and the process was explained clearly. The technician then took me into a cabin and proceed to apply the lashes, one by one. The whole thing took about 1h30. Went I first looked into the mirror I just went WOW!! I wanted dramatic, well I got dramatic! Must admit it took me a couple of days to get used to it but once I did I absolutely LOVED it!!

2 and half weeks in, I love them even more (they are supposed to last about 3-4 weeks). I did loose a few here & there, but that’s fine cos it actually give me a more natural look. I actually think I’ll ask them to only apply a few here and there next time to keep it a bit more ‘natural’.

I’ve not worn mascara on my top lashes since then which is cool. I only apply a little to my bottom lashes to balance things out. I do sometimes take an old mascara brush and apply a little hairspray to keep them separated and in place but that’s about it.

The only downside? You can’t quite wet your eyes so I’ve had to wash my hair separately, make sure I don’t apply water to my eyes when cleansing my face… but other than that, they are super duper easy to maintain and I got LOADS of compliments!

Check out this great article on the ‘Do’s & Don’ts of Eyelash Extensions’ for more info: http://www.glamour.com/lipstick/blogs/girls-in-the-beauty-department/2012/07/the-dos-and-donts-of-eyelash-e

You’ve gotta forgive me for the lack of ‘proper’ photos!

I took a little selfie on my way to the salon and another afterwards and I admit they are not the best ones. It’ll still give you an idea of the before and after results though….

I highly recommend Senses Salon! The girls there are so lovely. The Groupon I got was for AED99 for a full set and I’m pretty sure they’ll do more offers so keep an eye out! If you have any questions let me know in the comments section….

#MakeUpCrush: A little KIKO haul

I know it’s been a while! If you’ve seen my recent tweets or recent posts you’ll know I’m currently on holidays back home in the South of France and I took a much much needed tech break.

I didn’t however take a shopping break. Much to the contrary! I’ve been haulin’ a little and my first stop HAD to be the KIKO store in Beziers. I discovered the brand last year when I purchased 2 of their Long Lasting Eye Shadow Crayons and just had to explore a bit more.

So, here is a break down of what took my fancy:

2014-08-06 08.15.15

Water Eyeshadow in Sepia – very similar formula than the new Nars eyeshadows for a fraction of the price! I absolutely love love that one! You can apply it dry or with a wet brush for for a longer-lasting/ deeper effect. The colour Sepia is a rich browny-taupe colour which works super well with my complexion. Been applying all over the lid. Easy-peasy. It did crease a little bit at the end of the day but when I used my Sephora eye shadow primer underneath it didn’t bulge!

Glamorous Eye Pencil in Gold – was looking for a golden eye pencil to use in the tear-duck are to open up / brighten up my eyes and found this one which is perfect! Lasts quite a while too which is amazing!

Make-Up Fixer – been meaning to get a make-up fixer for a some time and thought to look at different options before investing in one of the more expensive brands (Urban Decay – Clarins). I am so so glad I waited and got this number instead! It actually works pretty well and at EUR7.90 it’s a total bargain too!! Sprayed all over the finished make-up, it then lasts all day without fail!

Face & Body Brush – Not sure how often I’ll use this one but for the Summer I thought it would be great to invest in a big fluffy brush to apply a little bronzer all over my face and onto my collar bone/shoulders. Got this one for EUR16.90 and it’s quite a big one so again, a bargain.

3D Instant Volume Lipgloss in Cherry Red– OMG! I love this colour! This gloss is super pigmented AND has an amazing texture which pumps up your lips and make them look gorgeous. It lasts for ever too and doesn’t stick so a massive thumb up for this product! Very similar in formula to the Nars lipgloss…. will Instagram a look with it :)

Right so that’s it for my KIKO haul I guess! I did buy a few more beauty bits which I’ll share in another post in the next few days so stay tuned!

Until then…
