#MakeUpCrush: Put your best face forward

Us beauty/make-up/fashion bloggers live to try out different things be it skincare products, outfit styles but also make up looks! That’s just want we thrive on. However there are times when ‘experimenting’ with something new is just out of question. This could be an important work meeting/event, a night out with your bestie, a date etc… and on these occasions you wanna make sure you look your absolute BEST!

Well, I, too have my ‘perfect face kit’ and that’s the one I bring on when I need to be 100% confident that I look good.

So what’s in the kit? Let’s dive in:

– To make sure my foundation stays put all day/night, I use the Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Primer

– I find the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet gives me the best coverage yet looks so natural. I love love love it! Applied with my Inglot Pro Blending Sponge, it’s quick, easy and fool-proof

– To conver/brighten the under eye area, I like to apply a little Maybelline FitME Concealer

– I did prep my eyelids to make sure my shadow stays on and here I’ve used a sample of the Urban Decay Long-lasting Eyeshadow Primer and it is fab!

– Onto brows: Of course, it has got to be the Mac Eye Brows Pencil in ‘Spike’. This one I only use in the evening and I find it isn’t ‘natural-looking’ enough for daytime.

– On the eyes, I made up a quick smoky-look using my beloved Urban Decay Naked 2 palette: 1. Foxy all over the lid to prep and unify the base shade 2. YDK on the mobile part of the lid 3. Busted in the crease to give the eye definition and 4. Half Baked in the inner tear duck to brighten everything up

– Lashes were of course curled with my MAC Full Lash Curler and I applied 2 x coats of the Sephora Outrageous Volume mascara in black. I also like to apply a tiny bit of the Dior Addict It-Lash mascara in 872 (the flashy pink one!) at the end of the lashes to give the whole look a little ‘funky’ twist and add a touch of fun!

– I contoured my face (slightly!) with the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette. I especially love the blush

– Since I went for a bit of a dramatic eye look, I kept the lips natural and just carried my clear Labello Hydra Care balm.

And voila! The ‘perfect’ face kit, Carine’s way! The whole thing took me about 20 mins so not too bad!!

What are your fail-proof make-up items?!

#MakeUpCrush: Get Naked… On The Run!

Yeah well my obsession with make-up palettes knows no limit! When I was in France over the holidays, I of course had to pay a little visit to my local Sephora and bam! Here it was, looking so pretty!

I had to get my hands on Urban Decay‘s newbie the Naked On The Run palette and I LOVE IT!

2015-01-26 09.19.45

It contains all that you need to create the most amazing looks in the one, beautiful designed pack. A travel-size version of the new Perversion mascara (AMAZING!), a mini 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in Stag (super easy to use and long-lasting), a travel-size lipgloss in Sesso (looks fab on anyone!), 5 gorgeous eyeshadow shades (none of them are in the Naked 1, 2 or 3 palettes which is great), 1 all-over eyelid shade, a bronzer and a blush. Short of applying it all for you, it is quite the complete set!

If I am going away for a couple of days then that’s my make-up sorted! Each shadow is designed to work perfectly with the others. They are so easy to apply and blend in. The packaging is also really pretty! It even has a huge mirror for on the go application ;).

The only thing that’s missing, a little brush to apply it all but hey, can’t have it all now can we!

The Naked On The Run palette can be found in Sephora (Dubai Mall, MoE, Dubai Marina) and of course, online.

Bought any palettes recently? Tell me all!

#MakeUpCrush: Lovely Me:ex by The Face Shop

Oh how much I love to discover a new make-up brand and one that’s amazing!! Well I did just that with natural cosmetics brand The Face Shop make-up range Lovely Me:ex!

I’ve tried out the following 3 products and actually loved them all! Check these little beauty out:

LOVELY Me:ex Pastel Cushion Blusher in 02 Coral Cushion

My absolute favourite one has got to be that super cute little blusher! From the girlie packaging to the beautiful ‘coraly’ colour which works even so well on my skin tone! The fluffy little puff applicator is a dream too :)

Lovely Me:ex My Lips Eat Cherry Aqua tint

Never been much of a lip tint fan, just because I never really know how to apply it, how to wear it… I do also suffer from dry lips and forever applying moisturising lip balm. However, I did try this one out and totally loved it! It gave my lips that deep sultry red colour and when I apply my (transparent) lip balm over it, the colour doesn’t bulge. Check.

Lovely Me:ex Catch My Eye Line in 01 Black

My least favourite only just because I am not the greatest at applying eye liner BUT a very good product never the less! This is a really lovely eye pen, easy to apply and the little smudger at the end makes it a super versatile product. I just really need to learn how to use it properly ;)!

Have you tried any make up products from The Face Shop? What do you think?

#MakeUpCrush: It’s all about that base!

As you will have guessed from this post’s title, today we’re talking ‘bases’! A subject I’ve never blogged about actually…. I do love make up and wear quite a bit (most days) BUT up until recently, I never really found MY perfect base + foundation combo! Yep, took me a while and a lot of trial & errors but I finally got not one, but two combos I really really enjoy wearing! One for a more daytime/light coverage look and another for evening/medium coverage one.

Let me remind you a little bit about my skin. I do have a pretty even tone although I have a few little acne scars so don’t really go for anything that’s heavy as I can get away with light to medium coverage. My skin is also on the combinations/oily side and can get a little dehydrated when I’m tired or stressed out.

With that in mind, I look for something that’s kind of matte but not too matte and a base that’ll keep my T-zone from going all disco ball shine by mid-day. And I did!

Daytime Look

I absolutely love love love the new Sephora Pore & Fine Line Filler as a base! It does blur all of my larger pores (around the nose & cheeks areas) and fill up those little dehydration lines I have on my forehead… I don’t really have any other lines or wrinkles so this one’s perfect.

It also adds a bit of a mattifying effect and allows for my beloved DiorSkin Nude BB Cream to glide on and seat perfectly for a whole day! I use the shade ‘medium’.

I usually apply my BB cream with the Inglot Pro Blending Sponge (here) which is fab!

Evening Look

2014-12-02 11.16.05

On those occasions when I need a little more coverage or I’m attending/hosting an event and need to look my best, I reach for the amazing Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet which I discovered this year and have loved ever since! I use shade 40-beige. The application is so so easy with a blender or a buffing brush and it lasts and lasts and lasts, especially when applied over a thin layer of this amazing oil-free primer: Smashbox Photo Finish. I got a sample of it when I last visited Sephora in France and I’m so glad I did cos it’s dope!! Keeps ‘the’ T-zone shine free for hours and creates a smooth canvas… the perfect pair!

So there you have it! What are your perfect primer + foundation/BB combos?! Let me know!
