#MakeUpCrush: Put your party face on!

‘Tis the season to be…. looking FAB & GLAM guys! Here is to a month of Festive celebrations & parties!

And for me it started a couple of weeks ago with the annual MEPRA Awards Gala event… despite working hard on finalising all the details, making sure the operations teams was ready to roll, I had to bring on my A game and it started with putting my ‘party face’ on! Baring in mind I only had a couple of hours to look the part it was a bit of a challenge! Still, with the right make-up, a trusty hair salon and a little patience, I managed to pull it off…. don’t you think?

 The Hair

I had been thinking of what I wanted to do with THE hair for a while and since I wore them up last year, I wanted to try something different. I kept on seeing excellent reviews & comments about Blo Out Beauty Bar on social media and thought I would give it a go! I kind of liked the idea of a ‘Blow Dry Menu’….

I needed however to get my hair done in the morning (so that I could attend rehearsal sessions in the afternoon as well as checking up on the ballroom set up) BUT whatever style would need to last not only the day but the evening too! I discussed my concerned with the lovely owner of the salon who reassured me she had the perfect solution! They would curl up my hair, pin the curls down and all I would have to do is to remove the pins, shake that head and voila!

I went for the ‘Fashionista‘ Blow Dry, the equally lovely hairdresser proceeded to washing, drying and curling my hair… I was done within an hour which is pretty amazing considering the amount & lengh of my hair and off I went about my day, curls pinned to my in a 70’s starlet style!

At AED120 I call this a glam’gain! When I got to the hotel, one of the events manager actually complemented me on the ‘new hair do’!! ahaha

Right before I left for the event, I took out all those bobby pins, sprayed a little Elnett, shook my hair and was left with big bouncy curly sexy hair!

Thank you so much to the FABULOUS team at Blo Out Beauty Bar!!!

The Make-Up

I was really looking forward to this part as I find doing my make-up is just so relaxing! Yes, I am weird like that :)

Complexion wise, I went for a very light & matt base using the Benefit POREfessional balm as a primer to create a smooth canvas and the IsaDora BB Cream which I applied with my fingers.

I then added a little definition and warmth using my Honey Bronzer from The Body Shop, applied with the Face & Body Brush from the same brand.

I grabbed my new Benefit Rockateur and applied some of this beautiful pink sheer highlighting blush on my check bones which created the most glowing glow (does that make sense?) I’ve ever seen! I am absolutely in love with the stuff! (and btw, it photographed amazingly!!)

Benefit the Rockateur

On the eyes, I wore a dramatic brown/bronzed smokey look, created using my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and some more Benefit gems!:

Party Face - Eyes

To define my eyebrows I used my new Benefit “Gimme Brow” Brow Volumizing Gel which is super practical & easy to apply! I have it in a Light/Medium shade which is perfect for my hair colour & skin tone.

Then on to the ‘smokey’ part! I really wanted to use my beloved Urban Decay Naked 2 palette which is just amazing. Here’s a mini – tutorial on how I applied the various colours…

Party Face - Eyes2

1. Apply ‘Booty Call‘ all over the lid with a large fluffy eye shadow brush – I used the Sephora Pro Blending Brush #27

2. Take some of the ‘Busted‘ shade and apply it into the crease using (for exampled) the Sephora Pro Crease Brush #10

3. Dust a little bit of that same colour unto a smudge brush and apply along the lash line to frame the eye – I used the Sephora Smudge Brush #14

4. Pack some of the shade ‘YDK‘ onto the mobile lid to add some depth and shine – to do so I used a flat Sephora Shadow Brush #25

5. Finally, highlight the whole look with a touch of ‘Foxy‘ in your tear duct and underneath the brow bone

Now you can’t rock a smokey eye without the dramatic long voluminous lashes to match! Well of course I reached for Benefit They’re Real Mascara! This one has got to be THE best mascara ever! I only discovered it recently and was super impressed! I am lucky my eye lashes are naturally pretty long but this mascara adds a superb definition and tons of volume!

And to finish off my ‘Party Face’ look, I applied a touch of Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Color in ‘Frisky Business‘ which complimented the whole make-up perfectly!

Party Face - Lips

And here is the final results!

Both hair and make-up lasted all night and looked beautiful! I received a few compliments which always helps ;)!

What do you think? Liked my make-up special post?

#BeautyCrush: French Fancies Haul, part 2

YES, I’ve been at it again!

My friends at home really are starting to think I am completely obessed with shopping for beauty products…one of them actually suggested I seek help! AH!

Well, maybe I am a little ‘tubaholic’ but hey, to me, it’s a healthy passion!

So, what did I buy lately? Well this time I kind of looked for really cool shower gels and hair products.

Body Care:

I looooove Bourjois’ shower gels and we do get a few in the UAE, however, in France, we have LOADS more!! So that’s one thing I always make sure to bring back a little stach of! These 3 are new and so I got one of each to try them.

Bourjois Paris, Cagolez Moi, Lait de Fleur de Cerisier (EUR2.24) – This smells like Sherry Blossom and is the nourishing version (‘Cagolez Moi’ means ‘Pamper ME’!).

Bourjois Paris, Reveille Moi, Agrumes et Baies de Goji (EUR2.24) – ‘Reveille Moi’ meaning ‘Wake Me Up’ and so this citrus one is perfect for morning shower, when you need a little energy boost! It also has Goji Berry extracts!

Bourjois Paris, Rafraichis Moi, Fleur des Lagons (EUR2.24) – ‘Rafraichis Moi’ means ‘Refresh Me’ and so with it’s Lagoon flower smell, this one just freshen you up after a day at the beach or during the hot Summer weather…

Dop Douche Creme, Caramel a l’Ancienne (EUR2.30) – Now this one smells good enough to actually eat! It has the yummiest Toffee scent… it is a little weird and I’m not sure I actually feel ‘clean’ after using this, but if you’re craving for something sweet, just get in the shower…. and there’s no calories!

Hair Care:

Hair Care

Le Petit Marsaillais,  Huile Elixir Soin Avant-Shampoing (EUR8.50) – When I lived in France, I was a huge fan of ‘Le Petit Marsaillais’ products which are inspired by traditional mediterranean recipes. This ‘pre-shampoo’ oil which you apply 15 mins before washing your hair is a deep nourishing treatment which leaves your tresses soft and well, deeply nourished!

Garnier Ultra Doux, Shampoing Merveilleux, Huile d’Argan et Camelia (EUR2.80) – This shampoo contains Argan & Camelia oil, proven to treat your hair and leave them soft, smooth & shiny.

Garnier Ultra Doux, Baume Merveilleux, Huile d’Argan et Camelia (EUR2.87) – I will be using this Argan & Camelia oil conditionner to complete the whole ‘deep nourishing’ hair care regime.

Just talking about it has made me wanna to jump in the shower and I shall emerge smelling delicious with soft, hydrated & shiny locks!

Let’s see if anyone notices!

I’ll be back soon with part 3 (and my last, sadly) of my French Fancies Haul series…

#BeautyCrush: French Fancies Haul, part 1

Hey you guys!

First off, let me apologise for the silent treatment. As you all know I’ve been on holidays and will be until the 27th August.

It is so nice to be home with my family and friends, I’ve been having a real blast! But the highlight of this week has to be my trip to the nearest big shopping centre, beauty shopping!!

I managed to stock up on all sort of different bits & pieces I can never find in the UAE and so couldn’t wait to share these with you lot!

So here is what I got so far!

DSC00195 - Copy

Skin Care:

Caudalie ‘Eau de Beaute‘ (EUR9.50) which you spritz all over your face at any time of the day for an instant refreshed & beautiful glow

L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream (EUR14.68) – in the universal shade. This one is said to correct skin tone to give you a healthy looking canvas that is radiant and lasts for 24hrs! Will try it out today!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (EUR18.90) – I discovered this one in my last GlamBox and absolutely love it! It smells amazing, applies nicely on the skin without leaving a greasy film over it and just looks very glam!! You can use it to nourish your hair too!

Garnier Body ‘Huile Beaute Absolue’ (EUR7.98) – as you can probably tell, I really am into body oils at the mo! I just find them so easy to use and in this weather my skin tends to dry out a little so these are perfect to keep it super hydrated. I haven’t tried this one so will have to come to you on whether it beats the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse or not!

Hair Care:

L’Oreal EverRiche Shampoo (EUD7.98) – without sulfates this shampoo will nourish your (or my) keratin/botox treated hair.

L’Oreal EverLiss Conditionner (EUR7.58) – this conditionner will help tame any frizzy hair, perfect for this hot & humid weather

KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow (EUR4.90). A #bblogger favorite, these are super pigmented yet easy to apply over your eye-lid. You just need to blend it out with your fingers for a super long lasting shimmery look!

I got the share 05 & 07!

L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Blush (EUR10.61), Another one of my fave bloggers recommendation! The tint adapts to your own skin tone so when applied on your cheek bone, the transparent gel transforms into this delicious pink glow that lasts for hours!

Maybelline New York Color Tattoo (EUR9.70). Haven’t tried this one out yet but the colour ’35- on and on bronze’ looks gorgeous for a summer evening look! These are said to last up to 24hrs so will have to test it out over the weekend!

Right, so that was Part 1 of my French Fancies Haul. I’ll be back with more beauty finds next week!

Any questions or suggestions as to which products I should look out for, let me know!

Until then…
