#HairCrushes: Summer Hair Care Routine

As promised, here is an updated hair care routine! The last I posted was about a year ago so this one is long overdue. Needless to say I’ve been trying out LOTS of products and I think I now have found the best product combo… well at least the best one for my hair. Let me also tell you that my hair is very long (below the waist), fairly straight, coloured (inc an ombre on the ends) and do have a tendency to dry out on the lengths.

Also,¬†I only wash my hair every 3 or 4 days, unless I’ve been running or sweating (sorry I know it sounds a bit gross)…. if I wash them too often they dry out even more and my scalpt gets super sensitive. If I find that on the 3rd day the roots get a little greasy, I just refresh them with dry shampoo. My favourite one at the moment is the Davines Hair Refresher.

So, what do I use to keep my tresses in check? Read on to find out!

Davines Nounou Nourishing & Illuminating Shampoo & Cream

The ‘Nounou‘ range is perfect for coloured or treated hair! It just deeply nourishes your hair, repairing any damaged tresses. This is sodium chloride free which means it won’t strip the colour out of your hair! Fab.

The Shampoo’s formula is really nice. A little dollop of product goes a long way (with my hair, I go through a bottle of shampoo every fortnight but I’ve had this one for over a month now!).

The cream mask is so rich and creamy and just leaves my hair so soft… I apply it in the shower, leave it on for 10 mins and rinse it off. You can also leave it on for a couple of hours for more of a deep conditioning treatment.

Or

Boots Expert Anti-dandruff Shampoo – I don’t really know if it is the water, the heat or whatever, but I sometimes get a bit of a itchy scalp and can go through phases where I have dandruff which I absolutely hate! SO, every 2nd or 3rd shampoo I use this little gem! The bottle doesn’t look like much and it is super cheap (GBP3!) but man, it does work! Leaves my scalp feeling refreshed and super clean! Love it!

Natures Organics / Organic Care Dry Nourish Conditioner – This is one of my all time favourite conditioners! And one that you can buy for very cheap in your local supermarket. I got this a couple of years ago when I first tried out the infamous Keratin treatment. It was then recommended to use a shampoo & conditionner that did not contain any paraben or sulfates… after using up the super expensive one from the salon I hunted this (much) cheaper version down and loved it instantly! I didn’t like the shampoo so much as I felt it left my hair very tangled and dry but the conditionner has remained part of my hair care routine ever since. Love also the fact that it contains coconut oil and thus smells good enough to eat!!

Davines OI All in On Milk Р this rich and nourishing spray on milk is quite the genius do it all product! When spray on towel dried hair and before styling it adds shine, softness, helps with detangling my long locks, controls any frizz, has a conditioning effect, cuts out my blow-dry time by half and protects my hair from the heat! And it smells really good too! WHAT?!

PhytoPlage Protective Sun Veil – living in the Middle East you have got to be mindful of the sun and the heat and the fact that we’re close to a beach at any given time and so likely to visit it all year (well almost!). It therefore goes without saying that UV rays, salt, heat etc… would take a toll on your locks and so you have got to make sure they are protected at all times! The best product I’ve tried to day has to be the PhytoPlage Protective Sun Veil. The texture is super light and non-greasy, it smells of holidays and of course, it contains a UV filter. Can be use on or off the beach! I spray mine on every day!

¬†L’Oreal Elnett Satin Lumiere Hairspray – Hair styling wise, I do keep it very simple! A little hair spray to keep little flyways. I’ve been loyal to Elnett for years….

And then finally, if I am feeling SUPER glam, I’ll spray a little of my favourite Hair Perfume (yes you heard!) – the Herra Hair Protect.¬†Read the full review here.

My little secret to easily detangle my hair in the shower?! Meet my cute ‘Shampoo Brush‘! I got it from Daiso for like AED7 and it’s genius! Makes the whole process so much easier… a must-have if you ask me!

#HairTreatmentCrush: Sebastian Cellophane Treatment at De La Mer Spa

So last week I was invited to try out the new Sebastian Cellophane Treatment at one of my favourite beauty spot in Dubai, De La Mer Spa.

‘Cello-what?’ I hear you ask! Let me break it down for you right now! ¬†Your hair can be put under a lot of pressure at times what with regular colouring and blow-drying, heat & sun exposure and well, this results is your locks looking a little worse for wear.

The Sebastian Cellophane Treatment is basically THE treatment which will put life back into your tresses, give your colour a boost and adding shine & glossiness to them!

Now, see this one as a semi-permanent colour treatment. There are different shades although it washes off in a couple of weeks, so the first step is to find one that’s the closest to your current colour OR, you can choose to opt for the ‘clear’ one which is great and fits everyone!

The lovely hairdresser, Gulya (PS: She is just AMAZING!!), chose to actually mix 2 shades to get as close to my current hair colour as poss. The mixture is then applied similarly to any other colour treatment.

Off your head goes under the heater for 20 mins et voila! Hair is rinsed and blow-dried to reveal a shiny, silky-smooth, colour-boosted texture!

What a great treatment! Check out the photo above where I tried to capture how shiny they were in the sun… are you sold?! Well if you are, below are some more info on prices and how to book:

Price:
Short Hair: 200dhs
Medium Hair: 250 dhs
Long Hair: 300 dhs

Duration: 45 minutes / 1 hour

For more information contact: 04 328 2775 or info@delamerspa.com

Let me know if you try it and if you do, please say Hi to the fabulous Gulya for me :)!

Herra Protect Hair Perfume

#HairCareCrush: Herra Hair Protect Perfume Review

A perfume for your hair. Does it get any ‘posher’ than that?! To me that’s just the epitome of luxury!
Well, you too can have a piece of that luxurious feeling, thanks to Herra Protect Hair Perfume, named after “Hera“, the Greek goddess of beauty & fragrance & founded in 2012 by British hair stylist James Davis!
This little beauty here not only envelop your tresses with a gorgeous, sultry and rich fragrance (think floral, fruit, oriental, fresh and woody scents) ,it also protects your locks from UV rays, pollution and free radicals!
At first I was a little concerned the fragrance would clash with my current perfume but it actually doesn’t and somehow blends very well with it.
For my (very) long hair, I usually spray 6-8 times all over and repeat as and when needed throughout the day! The purse-friendly bottle makes it easy to carry around in my beauty bag ;)!
If you’ve not tried this yet then I can recommend you do!¬†
Herra Protect Hair Perfume is priced at AED 185 and is available at Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdales, Tejuri.com and in leading beauty salons nationwide, including Sisters Beauty Lounge.
Be sure to check out their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter for product news & updates!
