#FashionCrush: The White Lace Dress

About time I posted a bit of a fashion-y post! I’d love to do more of these but the logistics of it is a little… complicated! This time though, I enrolled the help of my very good friend Liouaa who also blogs at and we played dress-up in her garden!

I recently went on a bit of a Summer shopping spree and picked some really good pieces. Things I wouldn’t normally wear but thought to try them out anyway…. cos that’s what fashion is all about right?

One of the things I got is this lovely white lacey dress from H&M. It was such a bargain too (AED149 I think)! I love the length of it, I love the lace details which makes it so feminine and I love the fact that it can be dressed down or up for a night out.

I chose to model the daytime/dressed down look by pairing it with a cropped denim jacket from Koton, a pair of leopard-print espadrilles from H&M and a little leather clutch from Gap.

I’ll do a ‘going-out/evening’ version for sure so will share on my Instagram :)

#MakeUpCrush: The 3-minute flawless face!

I don’t know about you guys but I am finding the whole “Ramadan/back to basics/no make-up” thing quite liberating! It now takes me 15 mins to get ready in the morning and my skin is thankful for the break!

But as much as I do go bare-face during the day, if I’m going somewhere for Iftar or Suhoor or meeting up with friends in the evening for a bout of shopping I do try to make a bit of an effort and put on a bit of make-up. Nothing too dramatic! Base + mascara + lip balm. Khalas.

And you know what, it only takes me 3 minutes tops. How?! Well, I’ve recently discovered the make-up sponge! I know I am a little late on that wagon BUT I never really saw the point in investing in one of those until my favourite make-up tools brand launched their Miracle Complexion Sponge. A much friendlier alternative to the famous Beauty Blender. So I thought I’d have a go and try it out!

I watched the online tutorial and off I went to my bathroom! And WOW! Revelation. This thing is magical! So easy to use, even for me!

I literally poured a little of my new Rimmel Matte BB Cream (LOVE LOVE this one!!) on the back of my hand, dabbed the flat edge of the sponge and blended into the skin. I then use the pointy end to dab a little concealer on my blemishes… loving my new Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer! And finally, I used the rounded edge of the sponge to apply my new Rimmel Stay Blushed liquid cheek tint (I use shade 005 Apricot Glow – perfect for that Summer healthy glow!) onto my cheek bones…. AMAZING!!

Just make up to give it a rinse with warm water once you’re done to keep it germ-free. Clean it more thoroughly with soft soap or baby shampoo once a week or so…

Strongly recommend this little thin’. Do check out the how to use video for more info here.

As for mascara, I’m actually testing out a few new ones at the mo… more on that soon!

#BeautyCrush: Skin Care by Diptyque

No this isn’t a typo. Yes I do really mean Diptyque. The brand famously known for their uber cool candles is now offering a range of skin care products and of course, yours truly had to try them!!

First, can we just take a moment to look at the packaging. I mean… hello?! So effortless chic. So French (and I’m not saying that cos I’m French!). Just lovely.

Then let’s move on to what’s inside the pretty tubes & jars.

First up is the Radiance Boosting Powder.

Role: Cleanses and clarifies skin for greater radiance.

It comes as a finely milled powered which you pour into your hands and lather up using the supplied little foam ball previously dampened. You then clean your face with the foam, rinse off and voila! The texture is very similar to the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant .

I’ve used it for a couple of weeks now and would say it’s a pretty nice & gentle cleanser, best kept for a morning cleanse and not heavy-duty enough for make-up/sun screen removal. Still, my skin does feel purified and not dry at all which is a good thing. Nothing ground breaking either and it’s a pretty expensive product at $58 so not sure I would re-purchase.

Second, I tried out the Multi-Use Exfoliating Scrub.

Now this one I really liked! A pure-white creamy clay which can be used in 2 ways! You can use it as a scrub and work it over your skin to remove dead skin cells gently OR you can use it as a deep cleansing mask by letting it rest on your skin for 10 minutes.

Rinse it off and say hello to a brighter, more radiant skin! I loved it from the first time I used it!! This one is $65 which I know is a little on the pricey side but it’s well worth the investment and the jar will last you a while.

You can purchase the full range of skin care products from the Diptyque store at The Dubai Mall.

Have you tried any of the Diptyque Skin Care products? Do you recommend them? Would love to explore the brand a bit more….

#TreatmentCrush: Slimming and Firming Massage at SpaZen

Another week, another treatment review! That’s how I’m rolling lately ya know!

The team at Radisson Royal Hotel Dubai invited me to visit their Spa and try one of their massages. I had attended the launch event a couple of months ago and was super impressed with the facilities and the types of treatments on offer so of course I said yes!

Spa Zen (2)

I chose the Slimming & Firming 1hr Massage. Super appropriate ahead of the dreaded bikini season!

When I got to the spa, I was warmly welcomed by the team, offered a loverly copy of tea whilst filling up the usual consolation form and then led into a beautiful & tranquil treatment room with the lovely Pearl, my therapist for the day.

I loved the fact that each treatment room is equipped with an adjacent changing room. Nice little bonus!

Spa Zen (4)

Pearl used a blend of coffee oil to deeply massage into the body and thus kick all those fat cells’ butt a little! The whole thing felt super relaxing, a bit like a sports massage after a long work out. At one point I even drifted off a little I was so getting into a zone!

Now other than smelling delicious, coffee oil has detoxifying, draining & re-energising properties. My skin was left smooth & soft. Pearl advised me to not shower until the morning to allow for the nourishing ingredients to deeply penetrate the skin….

It certainly was an enjoyable experience. I did feel my muscles relax, and those wobbly bits being worked hard but I guess to see any real difference i.e: actual inch loss, you’d have to complete a course of 8 to 10 sessions.

I would still recommend this massage just because you’ll feel so much lighter afterwards and that coffee oil is just gorge!

Spa Zen - Radisson Royal Hotel Dubai

Price for the treatment: 1hr – AED425 or 1hr30 – AED550

To book, call +971 (0) 4 308 0531 ext 5531

Let me know if you try it out!
