The Week #13

#InstaCrushes: The Week #13

Looking at these pics you’d think I was quite the socialite! Which I’m not really… it just so happened that sat week’s saw quite a few events & launches.

Read on to find out which ones:

1. I was so excited to be receiving the next Dubai Fashion Forward announcement I had to post it on my Instagram! I simply cannot wait for April…3 days of Fashion…PARADIS!

2 & 5. Liouaa from Jam The Glam & I, aka the #GlamSquad, attended Koton’s SS14 Collection preview at The Story Rooftop, Holiday Inn Express Media City (a great place by the way!). You know I’m a HUGE Koton addict and looking at their new collection certainly won’t help… on the contrary… is it pay day yet??!

3. I also attended the opening to Gaudi‘s first ever store in the UAE, at the Dubai Mall. Think Guess meets Diesel… really liked some of their stuff and will certainly return to check them out a bit more..

4. Sephora launched its Spring beauty & skincare collection at the Meydan Beach Club where we got to pay with the new bits & pieces and get our make-up done! I absolutely loved the way the lovely make-up artist did mine so much so that I just didn’t wanna wash my face for a week ;)!! I’ll be trailing & reviewing all of the products so stay tuned for more….

So how was your week? Anything exciting?! I’m off to Jeddah on Sunday so will be sure to report on the experience 😉

Wishing you all a great weekend!

#MakeUpCrush: Oh Palette, sweet Palette…!

I know what you’re thinking! Two make-up posts in a row? What is going on?!! I’ve been sorting out my make-up and so got inspired to write about all of the different pieces and I own and use. This is another one of them…

I don’t know about you but I’ve kind of developed a bit of an obsession with palettes! I just find them so pretty and gorgeous and I WANT THEM ALL!

In today’s post, I wanted to share my palette collection (which is expending a little each month) and what I think of each of them. They might not be the latest ones to hit the market but ones I love never the less!

Pixi Perfection Palette in Lit-Up Lovely (here) – This was my very first Pixi purchase. There has been several ones since! I really liked the way this palette looked on my computer screen and so I thought ‘why the hell no?’. I was very excited to trying it out and was not disappointed at all! The colour selection is just fabulous, their are just buttery, easy to apply & blend, there’s a good mix of matt and shimmery shades… the blush colours are also really lovely and apart from the contouring colour which is a little ‘orange’ for me, I absolutely love this palette!!

Urban Decay Naked 2 (here) – Probably one of the most talked about palette on the blog sphere, the ‘Naked 2′ does not disappoint. An amazing selection of creamy, highly pigmented shadow shades offering endless combining possibilities to create tons of different looks! I absolutely love this palette and it would probably be the one I would take if I was to spend a year on a deserted island!

Urban Decay Naked 3 (here) – The ‘pinkest’ of all 3 Naked palettes is as beautiful as it looks! The perfect combination of golden pink matt and shimmery shades to create a more ‘romantic’ version of smokey looks. Naked2 and 3 are the perfect duo and probably the only ones I will be taking with me on holidays this summer!

Kardashian Beauty Khloe Kardazzle (here) – this one is my least favourite of all my palettes… I wanted to get a slice of the whole ‘Kardashian Beauty’ cake and really, I will not go for seconds. The texture of the shadows isn’t very good at all, the pigmentation a huge let down and the packaging feels ‘cheap’… still, this one will make my 12 years old nice happy :)

Mykiyaji Palette Checker Image

Mikyajy Jungle Fever (here) – Another brand I had never tried before. I selected this compact palette because the colours looked fun and fierce and I thought it’d be perfect to create more ‘adventurous’ looks during my Summer holidays! I quite like this one actually although it is probably more suited to the ‘younger’ gals BUT I do use some of the shades and really like one of the lip gloss (as you can see from the photo ;)! ).

Laura Mercier Colour-to-Go in Natural Nudes (here) – My perfect travel companion! This super compact, super sleek-looking palette is just so adorable! It comes with 4 gorgeous eye shadow shades including a lovely highlighter, one contour/bronzer shade, which, by the way, is fab, and the sweetest pink blush colour! What’s more, it also includes the cutest of mini lip gloss…. again, THE perfect travel partner.

Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate Palette (here) – Oh how I lusted over this palette! I had to wait for about 1 month and half for it to hit our shores from when it first launched in the UK and boy it was worth every single moment I waited! I absolutely love these shades of delicious, chocolatey brown which work so well with each other and allow me to create lots of different smokey looks! The only downer here is the shimmery shade which I find isn’t as pigmented as the others….

Sephora Pro Lesson Palette for Brown Eyes (no longer available online but check similar ones here) – This one is actually one of my very first palettes ever AND the one I learned how to master the infamous smokey eye with! And so it is no surprise that this number would hold a very special place both in my hear and in my make-up stash. I will forever treasure this beauty with which you can create a day-time/natural golden smokey look and a more ‘sultry’ glamorous purple/grey version.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in Dolce Vita  (here) – the latest addition to an already full collection and perhaps the most ‘luxurious’ of all. I fell in love with this shadow quad after one of my favourite blogger reviewed it. In 3 clicks of a mouse I had ordered it from and a few days later it landed, as beautiful and posh as expected on my door step! I’ve only used a few times and keep it for those extra special occasions but really really love it!

Alright my loves, this WAS my palette collection as it currently stands! As you can imagine my ‘wish-list’ is pretty long and I will for sure be back with another load of palettes to review & blog about!

I promise the next post will NOT be about make-up ;).. although….

#MakeUpCrush: The Mascara Edit

Another day, another make-up post! Today’s Edit is all about one of the most essential make-up items a gal can own. Mascara.

Now, remember the below is based on my own personal experience. It is also based on my own lashes which are fairly long & curly. They just lack a little volume which is what I look to achieve when using mascara.

When it comes to lashes, the bigger the better!

Here are the ones I own and use on a regular basis including the ones I don’t show much love to:

L’Oreal Paris Faux Cils Papillon – I was very excited to pick this one up in my local supermarket when I was in France this Summer. I’d seen the adds and I too wanted a slice of that ‘Butterfly’ effect thing! I was however a little disappointed… it’s not a terrible product but you have got to work pretty hard to get that ‘papillon’ effect…

DiorShow Blackout Waterproof – The most luxurious (and expensive) of the bunch… not necessary the best one though. I had high hopes for this one as I’m usually a huge fan of Dior make-up. I don’t mind it but I didn’t get the expect ‘Dior WOW Factor’… plus it’s a nightmare to remove, even with waterproof-friendly make-up remover…. I just use it for the beach or when I exercise outdoors (cos you know, you can’t quite go for a run without a coat of mascara now can you?!)

L’Oreal Paris Extra-Volume Collagene Waterproof – Nope, not impressed with this one either. A make-up artist tried this one on me and when he applied it, I absolutely loved it. Sadly though, once at home and trying to recreate that same effect I was a little disappointed… it could be that I just don’t have the technique under control but still, I find the brush too harsh, the texture too ‘pasty’ and it tends to smudge. Won’t be re-purchasing.

Maybelline New York The Rocket Volum’ Express – The Rocket is the latest addition to my mascara collection and my actually favourite and most used! Perfect for daytime, can be layered for an even more dramatic look if you’re going out in the evening, this is THE perfect busy gal companion. Love the brush, love the formula, love everything really!!

Sephora Outrageous Volume – my ALL TIME favourite! This one is the only one which gives me crazy volume and the blackest of colours. A bit ‘dramatic’ for day time wear but a sure fire for nights out!

IsaDora Extra Volume – This was was a GlamBox discovery. A super soft, contact lenses wearer friendly formula which is easy to apply, easy to remove and gives a fairly natural yet voluminous finish. One I do like and use for daytime affairs

Kardashian Beauty Out To There – Yes I did purchase a couple of items from the Kardashian Beauty Collection! I was curious! But hey, as much as some of the other items were a bit of a disappointment, this one is actually not bad at all! I like the fact that the wand is long and the brush is shaped in a way that it catches even the smallest of lashes. Not much in terms of volume BUT it does give me that nice & natural length and is really good for lower lashes.

Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara – My second favourite. It is a cult product and its status as such as a well deserved one. The number 1 mascara of all time doesn’t disappoint. It does give you that lengthening effect as if you were wearing false lashes. The only downside for me here is volume. I would have to really build it up to get a similar effect the Rocket would give me in one single coat. It’s still a lovely product which I’ll always have in my make-up bag.

I’m always on the look out for that next ‘best’ mascara so if you have any you would recommend I should try, let me know!

#FashionCrush: The ‘Little White Jacket’
