#FashionCrush: Splash Fashion Winter & Spring 14 Collections

How’s everyone on this lovely “wintery” Tuesday?! Well it is kind of Winter… Personally I love a new season! Wanna know why? Well that is because the main fashion brands are showcasing their new collections of course!!

And kicking it all off is Splash Fashion with their ‘Winter Holidays’ collection preview event and a little peak inside their ‘Spring’ one!!

Here’s the low-down on each:

Winter Trend Notes

It has been a season of re-invention and exploration and with Winter finally making its way to the UAE, the Splash wardrobe reflects prominent shades of classy, classic and sexy. Showcasing an interesting mix of dramatic atmosphere and masculine style, unique hero pieces like the tuxedo, sequin dress, a short evening jacket, leather pants or a leather jacket were showcased in luxurious fabrics like wool, silk, leather or velvet.

Strong silhouettes and sleek tailoring highlighted the looks and in dark hue shades of black, red, gold, royal blue, purple and emerald bringing in the much needed warmth for the season.

Gold embellishments, military detailing, sheer layering along with leather trims were integral highlights adding edginess to the looks. Oversized jackets and tops in drop shoulder or boxy cuts were teamed with longer length skirts and dresses in a colour palate of muted shades. Timeless pieces which are rich but not extravagant find favor with the urban fashion aficionado.

Spring Trend Notes

This Spring season witnesses the return of sportswear with a vibrant and futuristic twist. Star Print, Paint splatter and Graffiti with a galactic under tone adorn the looks of the moment.

This season offers a youthful breath of fresh air with the hues of mint and silver. In your face neon yellow and lime, bursts off set against black and white and bright coral neon. Hologram detailing in accessories is a key accent coupled with transparency.

Experience silhouettes inspired by sportswear. The classic bomber shape is a key shape along with conversational printed leggings. Colour blocking is set to make a comeback in with an atheletic twist. Silhouettes and prints are inspired by outer space and unexplored worlds.

Also this season Splash brings its exclusive Mickey Mouse designed range. Standout designs in black and white and a sporty aesthetic.

Accessories

The season accessories see the arrival of ethnic and futuristic inspired jewelry. Tribal inspired necklaces sport modern day hues of neon and ultra-Bright’s. Coupled with the season’s hottest sunglasses in the dominant circular shape. With touches of very key embellishments such as Hologram and transparent aspects. Clutch bags are also adorned with the key season metallic, transparency and Hologram statements in the language of social media.

I’ve already spotted a few pieces I HAVE to have! And oh I just realised it is payday on Thursday…. whoop whoop!

#ProductCrush: Young looking skin with Dermalogica® AGE Smart Antioxidant Hydramist

Wrinkles, altered pigmentation, loss of skin tone….we all associate these changes with the horrible monster: Skin ageing – BOOOOH!

And I for one am a tiny bit obsessed with keeping mine looking fresh & young for as long as possible (I was told I looked 25 this Summer… considering I am 33, that is a HUGE compliment!! And no, it wasn’t a man!)

So on my quest to defy time, I armed myself with a couple of excellent anti-ageing products including this amazing one from my favorite skincare brand, Dermalogica!

How to use:

#FashionCrush: K Kollection for Lispy Launches in Dubai

ICONIC, the fashion lifestyle destination recently unveiled the Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy at the ICONIC store in Dubai Mall with Khloe Kardashian, Raza Beig (CEO Splash & ICONIC) & Nisha Jagtiani (Business Head, ICONIC)launching the collection. 

And as you can all imagine, the ambiance at The Dubai Mall was MAD!

Sadly, very sick with the flu I wasn’t unable to attend and missed my change to meet Khloe in person BUT my photographer, Liezl Guipetacio, went and made sure she snapped it all for me!

The collection is available for purchase in ICONIC stores in the UAE & Kuwait. Designed for Lipsy by Kourtney, Kim and Khloé Kardashian, the collection features a wide mix of high-end, trend driven looks, including a sequined biker jacket, tribal caviar embellished crop tops, lace jumpsuit and feather coats. Needless to say fail safe, go-to party dresses do not disappoint either with a variety of colours and bodycon styles that become instant wardrobe staples!

I did spot a couple of pieces which I thought looked pretty cool including the white tuxedo jacket and the leopard-print pencil skirt so I may go check these out over the weekend!

#BeautyCrush: October GlamBox Review

Another month, another box of beauty treats!! And the October GlamBox didn’t disappoint with it’s Nail Care edition!

I never used to be a massive mani-pedi fan but since really getting into it (this kind of happened when I moved here and was suddenly able to actually afford a monthly mani-pedi!) I now have about 2 shoe boxes FULL of nail polishes, tools etc… One brand I’ve been eying up is KoKo Nails though and what a great surprise it was to find not one but two of their polishes in my GlamBox!!

I was also very impressed with the full size, Salon Nail Dryer Spray! Great value!

Here is what I thought of all the different products in last month’s GlamBox

Onyx Professional – Salon Nail Dryer Spray – What an amazing product this is! I hate it when I’ve just spend half an hour applying my nail polish then I have to wait for another 10 mins until it dries and that’s when the phone rings or you grab the remote control and then bam! Your polish smudges!! Well, NO MORE I say! All you’ve gotta do now is use the spray on each of your nail after you’ve applied your polish and voila!! I usually repeat the process just to be sure but it really works!!

B Pedi Peel – I had heard of this foot peel and remember thinking I should try it out as my feet get very dry from all the soccer playing so again, excellent surprise to find it in the box. I haven’t used it yet because it does warn you that your feet will be peeling for about 2 weeks after you’ve used the peeler socks. I therefore thought it was best to wait until the Winter when I am less likely to be wearing sandals and flip flops. Another one I will report back on soon….

KoKo Nail Polishes – I LOVE THESE!! I received 2 different pastel shades: a baby blue one and a baby pink one. Tried both and was quite impressed at how long it lasted! This could also be thank to using it in combination with the dryer spray but I got about a week’s wear out of it and with no chipping!

KoKo Nail Soak Off Gel Polish – This is one I have not used yet just because you’ve gotta take it to your local salon and it requires the UV Light to dry. Next time I do go for a gel manicure I will be sure to bring it along!

Nail File – Also in the box and to complete the perfect manicure set, was a nail file with different surfaces for filing, polishing & smoothing which I’ve used a couple of times and was fairly happy with!

Writing this review I realised I didn’t get the little KoKo Nail Quick Soak Off pot which features in the image so can’t quite give you any feedback on this one also I have a feeling it goes along with the Gel Polish and can only be used by a professional nail therapist….

Another lovely GlamBox I would say! I can’t wait now to receive my November one and will be sure to share my feedback with you all very soon!

OK, guys, seriously, drop your GHD’s and your Braun’s – there is a new player in town!! Panasonic launched their first range of “advanced Nanoe powered” beauty accessories last week in Dubai and man, their stuff is GOOD!

Fact:  Nanoe born from natural water provides 1000 times more moisture making i t Ideal for dry Middle East conditions

I went home with one of their new Nanoe EH-NA65 hair dryer which I have since used twice… I am quite pleased to report that it did not let me down! It captures moisture from damp hair and surrounding air and infuses it back into it as Nanoe ions (a little complicated I know!). These atomized water particles provide the essential moisture needed to reduce frizz and moisturize the scalp, resulting in beautiful and healthy looking hair ( that I understand!).

I can actually vouch for the above statement! Not a kink in sight, shiny smooth hair – check.

In fact Panasonic launched 3 gorgeous products that day: their EH-NA65 hair dryerEH-HS95 hair straightener, and EH-SA31 facial steamer which incorporate unique and advanced nanoe technology…this is where they actually stand apart from their competitors.

The event itself was well executed! One of the most impactful launch I attended in a very long time! We were treated to speeches from Mr Masao Motoki, Managing Director for Panasonic Middle East & Africa, Mr Hiroyuki Tagashi, Director for Beauty & Living Business Division, Panasonic Corporation Japan and then finally, the lovely Aishwariya Ajit, Dubai TV Presenter and Anchor gave us a fab beauty pep talk!

All of this in the beautiful surroundings of the newly opened Anantara Hotel The Palm Resort & Spa! I mean, they really went all out and the result was amazing!

The whole team was every so nice and welcoming, on hand to showcase and demonstrate the different products etc….

I will certainly lookout for these when they officially launch in stores and cannot wait to get my hands on the facial steamer which I really feel will be a great addition to my skincare routine!
