#FashionCrush: Koton A/W13 Collection Preview

As you all know, a good half of my wardrobe is from Turkish brand, Koton! I am seriously obsessed with this brand and am even on first-name basis with the staff at the Ibn Battuta Mall store….yep, this is how bad it is! I mean, if they had a loyalty card, which they should, I’d be a platinum member by now!

I like Koton because 1. they make really great stuff & on trend, 2. it’s affordable and we all know I am the Queen of the AED500 outfit, 3. I can use my Grazia Insider card and get an extra 20% discount on all my purchases etc… etc…

(If you don’t have a Grazia Insider card yet, you can apply here).

SO, I was very excited indeed to have been invited to check out their A/W13 collection at the Ramada Plaza on Wednesday.

Here are  a couple of pics from the event:

Make sure to follow me on Instagram for more pics!

And here is the low-down on the new collection:

The Koton Womenswear AW13 collection effortlessly combines the Big Apple style with chic sophistication and tailoring. The mixture of pastels and shiny, bright textures will leave a lasting impression.

Punk is back! With it comes the 1970s fashion statement of contrasting patterns and designs.  Koton embraces the return of this influential trend and softens it with ultra feminine sweetness. Punk-Chic tames the loud punk style with floral patterns, lace textures and feathered embellishments. Trademark tartan, jacquard, velvet, leather, fur and mohair textures are embossed with ruffles and studs. Bright red, dark emerald green and metal grey hues give the collection the stand-out look punk is so well known for. Cigarette check trousers, satin short coats, velvet jackets and leather skirts are necessities to this trend.

The popularity of candy hues show no sign of a seasonal slow down and make an appearance in the Powdered Winter collection. Must-have pieces with a modernist touch are dresses, pea jackets and fitted trousers, available in icing sugar shades of rose, baby blue, crème, lavender and lemon yellow.  Three dimensional and lighter textures such as bright satin, smooth woollens, cachet, quilted and mohair are used to enhance the softer tones. Winter Sugars engages seasonal comfort with rounded shoulder pants, square skirts and tunic dresses.

The Koton Decor collection celebrates glamour with unexpected embellishments, decorated fabrics and over-the-top metal detailing. Bejewelled shirts, skirts and dresses are decorated with statement stones and carefully stitched embroidery in hues of rouge red, emerald green, lemon yellow, sugar pink and bright white.  Statement fashion crystals are complemented with small pearl drops and metal studs. Décor includes tailored blouses, square cut skirts and pea coats to create an eye-catching silhouette this season.

The new A/W collection should be in-store very soon so be sure to check it out! Oh and I hear Koton is opening its flagship store at Mall of the Emirates… I cannot wait to pay them a visit (my Bank manager probably can but that’s beside the point ;))!

Talking of which, I’m attending the Splash Fashion Show tonight and kind of need an outfit so y’all can guess where I’m off to now!
