Guess by Marciano FW 2013

#FashionCrush: Guess by Marciano Fall 13 Collection

This fall, Guess by Marciano introduces a vibrant women’s collection that captures the sophisticated essence of the Marciano brand. Pops of teal, electric blue, pink, and gold are worked into the color palette of the modern fall styles. The versatile styles in the fall collection can take you from day to night with ease.

The fall collection for women offers some of the season’s most anticipated trends. A black and cobalt brocade blazer is the perfect statement piece to add interest to a retro-inspired midi dress.  Classic, feminine dress silhouettes are updated with fashion-forward python and water color prints.  An electric blue sheath dress with sheer black sleeves is chic and flirty, perfect for a cocktail party. Mixed media styles are seen throughout the fall delivery, combining twill and wool with smooth leather in leggings, military-style coats, blazers, and fitted dresses.

For the fall’s cooler temperatures, taupe tweed jacket and ombre faux-fur coats are stylish layering pieces. Plunging V-necks are seen on a black satin romper and a silk abstract-printed mini dress with splashes of magenta and gold. Embellishments on miniskirts, chiffon blouses, and denim provide a fresh take on staple items.  The little black dress is updated this fall with open backs and gold zipper details for a modern feel. For the polished work look, the collection offers fitted blazers and sleek high-waisted pants that are both chic and comfortable.

The Marciano Fall 2013 collection is set to hit stores in September 2013 along with an assortment of accessories including handbags, footwear, watches, eyewear, jewelry and belts.

#BeautyCrush: French Fancies Haul, part 3

And here is to conclude my French Fancies Haul series!

I’ve kind of kept the best/most exciting products I picked up in France for last. These are skin care bits & pieces I read about in various blogs or that were recommended by friends.

First up, a brand I’ve know about for years but never actually tried! La Roche-Posay.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel – EUR11.90 – I’ve neglected my much loved Neutrogena Deep Clean cleanser to try out this one which I bought about a week ago. I actually quite like it! It dissolves the toughest of make-up pretty easily, smells very good and leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh! I think I still prefer the Neutrogena cleanser though as it just… works for me but must say the Effaclar is a very good contender.

La Roche-Posay Serozinc – EUD5.90 – This is one product which was highly recommended by a couple bloggers I follow . Serozinc is a kind of a toner which contains Zinc sulfate known to purify skin but also treat any irritations or blemishes. I’ve only used it for a few days so will get back to you as to whether this one works or not… so far, it’s not making my skin any worse which means it likes it!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Renovating Care – EUR11.30 – Lastly, I picked up this moisturiser meant to not only clear up your skin but prevent any blemishes from coming back. The texture is very light and perfect for oilier skins. I use it morning and night and so far, my skin seems to have adopted it!

I also picked up a couple of the new L’Oreal toners to try them out! Will report back on any feedback soon….

L’Oreal Paris Eclat Sublime Toner – EUR4.60 – This one claims to clarify the skin whilst revealing a brighter tone

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect – EUR5.64 – Containing Vitamin C, this toner claims to re-energise your skin.

And finally, I got these cute little ByU face masks which come in their own individually dosed sachets, perfect for when you travel:

ByU Masque Eclat – EUR0.99

ByU Masque Purifiant – EUR0.99

ByU Masque Energisant – EUR0.99

I haven’t tried any of these yet (there’s only so many products once can use at once!) but when I do, I shall blog my take on them.

Voila, that was the last of my French beauty products picks :(…

I’ve lived France, the UK and the UAE and must admit, here in France is where you get the coolest beauty products & make-up!

Needless to say, I am coming back with an extra suitcase full of stuff!

#Make-UpCrush: Drugstore Make-Up Look

Greetings from a grey & rainy day in France!

Since I am kind of stuck at home, I thought I would try something a little different. I had a look through my make-up stash and decided to work on a ‘drugstore natural day-time’ look!

Here is what I used:

L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream – I picked this one up in my local supermarket having heard LOADS of positive comments. The coverage is fairly good, the colour seem to work by adapting to your natural skin tone… It does even out any redness or blemishes but the coverage is super light so would keep it for a good skin-day!

Bourjois Paris Concealer Stick in 73-Golden Beige – I don’t really use Concealer but on those days when I haven’t slept much and need a little brightening under the eye area, I use this one in a shade lighter than my natural skin colour. I am no concealer expert but this one seem to hold a pretty good coverage. It doesn’t look cakey or anything… I apply it with a concealer brush and good to go in seconds.

L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Blush – Yes, they do have BB Blushes! I never knew either and so I decided to try! This one came in a ‘Universal Rosy Tint’ which again, adapts to your natural skin tone. It looked a little scary at first as it goes on very very pink but after blending it out with my fingers it left a very subbtle ‘flushed’ colour which looks very natural.

Maybelline New York Eyestudio Intense Chic Palette– I love a smokey eye me! So I picked up this very cute palette which include 4 ‘Vivids Plums’ shades. I followed the tutorial at the back of it to create a very chic eye look. The colour pigments aren’t the greatest but it still makes for a good drugstore option. I had to use my own Sephora Pro brushes though as I found the ones included in the kit very hard to manipulate…

Bourjois Paris Fan-Tastic Volume in 21-Fan-tastic Black – Y’all know I am a massive voluminous lashes person and so always on the look out for the next best mascara! I had very high hopes when I picked this one up… I was however a little disappointed and didn’t really get the volume I was hoping for until after I applied 3 coats. The fan-like brush is quite easy to use though and the result is very natural without any clumps.

Yves Rocher Colour nature 3 in 1 Eye Pencil in 01-Brun – to add a bit more ‘drama’ to my eye look, I ran a very subblte brown eye pencil down my water-line and used this one which I’ve now had for about a year!

So, the result is again, a very natural, fresh day-time look! Check out these detailed pics below:

Guess Jeans FW 2013 Collection

#FashionCrush: Guess Jeans Fall/Winter 13 Collection

This fall, GUESS Jeans collection is inspired by vintage Americana influences and exudes an effortlessly-cool vibe.

Embroidery, fringe and distressed details add interest to iconic denim designs.  The colors of the desert perfectly compliment the neutral palette of the collection.

The use of bright natural lighting and intense shadows, as well as an old-fashioned motorcycle, vintage guitar, and lasso, enhance the rustic scene.

The collection features denim looks, including worn-in denim overalls, and jeans in deep red, blue and black. Denim jackets are offered in classic silhouettes as well as embellished, tribal-printed, and moto styles.  Bold red leather jackets and coated denim are sexy, yet edgy.  Plaid button down tops, lace-up denim, and fringy jackets and booties add to the Western motif of the collection.

Guided by Paul Marciano, Creative Director for Guess, Inc., and shot by Raphael Mazzucco, the campaign evokes the freedom of a road trip into the desert of endless heat and sand. It is shot against the burning backdrop of Joshua Tree, California, the earth-tone images lead the viewer into a scene of the Wild West.

#BeautyCrush: French Fancies Haul, part 2

YES, I’ve been at it again!

My friends at home really are starting to think I am completely obessed with shopping for beauty products…one of them actually suggested I seek help! AH!

Well, maybe I am a little ‘tubaholic’ but hey, to me, it’s a healthy passion!

So, what did I buy lately? Well this time I kind of looked for really cool shower gels and hair products.

Body Care:

I looooove Bourjois’ shower gels and we do get a few in the UAE, however, in France, we have LOADS more!! So that’s one thing I always make sure to bring back a little stach of! These 3 are new and so I got one of each to try them.

Bourjois Paris, Cagolez Moi, Lait de Fleur de Cerisier (EUR2.24) – This smells like Sherry Blossom and is the nourishing version (‘Cagolez Moi’ means ‘Pamper ME’!).

Bourjois Paris, Reveille Moi, Agrumes et Baies de Goji (EUR2.24) – ‘Reveille Moi’ meaning ‘Wake Me Up’ and so this citrus one is perfect for morning shower, when you need a little energy boost! It also has Goji Berry extracts!

Bourjois Paris, Rafraichis Moi, Fleur des Lagons (EUR2.24) – ‘Rafraichis Moi’ means ‘Refresh Me’ and so with it’s Lagoon flower smell, this one just freshen you up after a day at the beach or during the hot Summer weather…

Dop Douche Creme, Caramel a l’Ancienne (EUR2.30) – Now this one smells good enough to actually eat! It has the yummiest Toffee scent… it is a little weird and I’m not sure I actually feel ‘clean’ after using this, but if you’re craving for something sweet, just get in the shower…. and there’s no calories!

Hair Care:

Hair Care

Le Petit Marsaillais,  Huile Elixir Soin Avant-Shampoing (EUR8.50) – When I lived in France, I was a huge fan of ‘Le Petit Marsaillais’ products which are inspired by traditional mediterranean recipes. This ‘pre-shampoo’ oil which you apply 15 mins before washing your hair is a deep nourishing treatment which leaves your tresses soft and well, deeply nourished!

Garnier Ultra Doux, Shampoing Merveilleux, Huile d’Argan et Camelia (EUR2.80) – This shampoo contains Argan & Camelia oil, proven to treat your hair and leave them soft, smooth & shiny.

Garnier Ultra Doux, Baume Merveilleux, Huile d’Argan et Camelia (EUR2.87) – I will be using this Argan & Camelia oil conditionner to complete the whole ‘deep nourishing’ hair care regime.

Just talking about it has made me wanna to jump in the shower and I shall emerge smelling delicious with soft, hydrated & shiny locks!

Let’s see if anyone notices!

I’ll be back soon with part 3 (and my last, sadly) of my French Fancies Haul series…
